Mark said in his videos he's putting the 3" mid in the a pillar, which if I had to guess is easily less than 6" from the tweeter. So Doug really has no idea what he's talking about.

Oxnard Adrian Lopez I used to do a lot (not as nice as Doug)builds, when I was younger in the early 80’s. We would build ported boxes and install mostly Vega speakers with Harmon Kardon amps/ tunnel cooled. As I’ve gotten older, I don’t have time, now I suffer with a factory system but still like the “bump”. One of our best builds was a box that was a stealth fit in the Honda CRX back area. A ported box with 3 way (tri-axle) Vega 6”x9” s. They had resets on the tweeters and sounded pretty cool.

He’s right about the tweeter placement. I have the tweeters in my a-pillars in my Tahoe and it sounds terrible. Like it’s missing the warmth of the vocals completely. Sounds hollow if that makes sense? I took off the a-pillars and set them on the floor closer to the mid to test it and it was a night and day difference. I need to move them permanently. Funny ass video btw

Lol the argument of tweeter placement. Personally I like them on the A-pillar or dash. That's where they are located factory on all my Dodge's and to move them away down to the mid it doesn't sound right at all. But nice install sounds great on the video
@kerrypence42015 жыл бұрын
Hopesndreams Don’t get me wrong I’ve been a Dodge guy since I was five years old but Dodge don’t know shit about Tweeter placement ! Perfect Tweeter placement is actually dead center of your mid range for a perfect on axis response… I have sat in quite a few award-winning SQ cars and learned a lot about speaker placement. Not a lot of SQ competitions anymore but if you can find one go take a listen and see where they put their speakers. There’s a ton of science to this but needless to say when you sit in one of these cars you’ll understand it’s a whole different experience… And Doug is right about the 6 inch or less placement of tweeters. There’s a lot you can do with time alignment and an EQ but…There is no replacement for Tweeter placement!!

Serious question Doug- I get why you put the tweets within six inches of the woofers, but if one was to place the tweeters higher in the door or A pillar running active with a DSP, couldn't you "fix" the separation with time delay? Thanks man, really digging the T Bird build!

According to my mobile dynamics courses from almost 30 years ago.. tweeter placement should be no more than 1 half the diameter of the mid away from the outer edge of the surround. The tweeter should be placed with an angle towards the domelight. According to 20th century engineering.
