Seems like a Honda still uses a unicam. Kinda old technology compared to a double overhead. I remember Dungy won a championship on his Zuke. Was probably almost the same motor with better electronics and fuel delivery.

Do you guys got to remember motorcycles have had kickstarts since day one it helps keep us in shape kick starting to bike people got lazy with East starts got spoiled they got to remember once that bike and the battery goes dead without a kick start on it you're stuck up a creek without a paddle

Facts. Only people who dont know anything about motors think it's out dated. Funny how its always no matter what a top 5 bike. Absolutely guarantee if a better rider say jet or Eli rode that bike it would win almost every time. Or look at the yz250 2 stroke they say its "out dated" but yet its still the best 2 stroke sold. Those other electric start fuel injected 2 strokes are piles of crap with absolutely no longevity.

Kenny's bike is not lagging in development or not by very much. It is not what will hold him back if he does not win. A couple riders like Jett and Tomac are better riders at this level.

The lack of E-start isn't such a big deal in itself. It's more of an indicator of the lack of development on the RMZs. If they made it lighter, faster and with better suspension, it wouldn't be such a shock to see the bike doing well. Of course, they would do E-start at the same time if they made all those updates. But slapping 8lbs of E-start on that same heavy, relatively slow bike would just make it worse.

Walty may remember but you youngsters are too young. In early 2000's Suzuki and Kawi partnered to save money and their dirtbikes were the same bike with different plastic and branding. Not sure what happen it didn't work out and they split.
