It's a sound that will be sorely missed when these leave the streets. Both the MAN and Mercedes-Benz naturally aspirated gas engines produce that distinctive burble that can be heard over great distances. It's a pity that when turbochargers and gas injection were added to future engines based on the same platform that the engine note was profoundly affected.
