Very helpful video. I learned what I needed to do. To me though the door still looked terrible. My house situation is different so I will go ahead and take the extra day and steps to putty, sand and paint the frame.

What a refreshing video because when the clamps fell on the floor not once but twice and then ended up not using it toward the end that is so reality! Thanks so much for posting this no crazy tools all good. Also it was good that you pointed out not to use any type of glue that would expand because that was one of my original approaches to fixing my door so thank you so much for reminding just use plain old good old wood glue

Would your method for fixing this change if the molding (facing into the house) is cracked in addition to the trim behind the striker? My dogsitter locked himself out and kicked in the back door instead of using the hide-a-key in one of those key lock boxes because he "forgot" the code. (UGHHHHH)

Thanks the video, I had some Homeless Guy try to break Into my house at 3:45am and he tried to kick the door open but failed, he then left when all my lights came on but left my door frame damaged. I emailed My landlord's about it but they havent replied to my email in 2 weeks so that let's me know that these ass holes dont want to fix it so I'm doing it my self. Your technique will help me fix it. The only thing I will do differently is adding some body filler to the crack if it's still partially there after Its fixed, sand it down to make it look seemless and repaint it. Thanks again!

Yes. If you want to secure it better shove Toothpicks in there dipped in wood gluten cut them off at the jam

It only took slightly longer than doing it the correct way and if the new homeowners are blind, they may never know there was a giant crack there! Great job! Oh - NEVER use this method on an exterior door!!! Fix it correctly!
