Kickin’ It was one of those shows that I always skipped but when I sat down to actually watch it (albeit when nothing else was on) me & my mom enjoyed it quite a bit. I won’t lie they started losing me towards the end though. It’s as if they were afraid people would start getting bored so they added so many new things in that tanked the show for me.
@Ditto.0072 жыл бұрын
Thats Disney for you: They go in strong and disappoint in the end 🙄 Edit: *cough* StarWars *cough*

Precisely, a lot of these kid oriented shows start off promising, then lose steam towards the end.

This was one of my favorite shows! Looking back it wasn’t that funny but Leo Howard is a genuinely good actor who did all his own stunts and the relationship between Jack and Kim felt real.
@donovan8022 жыл бұрын
I effin adored Kickin’ it as a kid. With the mindset I have as a young adult, yeah it’s undeniably cheesy at times, and Jack, Kim, and Rudy stole the show for me (not to boycott Jerry, Milton, or Eddie - they were funny at times). Nonetheless, it was awesome seeing the fights and choreography among the characters, and I’ll be frank, some of the dialogue was pretty hilarious (I like finding the proper opportunities to say Jack’s catchphrase: “You probably shouldn’t have done that.”) It will always be a favorite Disney sitcom of mine. And you are LEAGUES correct Alex - 11:23 - they grew up gracefully, and I got so jealous of that as a kid.

I related to this show so hard as a child, coincidentally Kickin’ It came out the same year I rejoined my karate dojo. I was 9 so I was a bit younger than the main characters but the show was EVERYTHING to me. My town also had two karate studios and yeah. It pretty much went the same way of each other saying one was better than the other. But these characters friendships reminded me of my own friendships at my dojo, Sensei Rudy reminding me of my own silly fun senseis, and I know it’s a joke but you’d be surprised at the walls we broke at our studio. One time a kid went straight from one dojo into the other! It was crazy! But he was okay thankfully. By the time the show ended I still hadn’t got my black belt, but 2017 I tested and passed my shodan exam, and it’s one of the best memories I have. One of my senseis, specifically the Sensei who reminded me of Rudy left our dojo to focus on his family, and it upset me so much. He seems to be doing so great right now though, so I’m happy for him. I know to most people this is just a silly show about karate but to me it’s like I was watching a show about my life, and god I miss it. I don’t do karate anymore since Covid, but I still remember it as the thing that got me through middle and high school. And performing on stage is a feeling I can never forget.

I loved the show, however, somewhere in the middle of it, or, maybe a bit later, it seems as if the creators forgot what they started with, or were hoping that we have forgotten, because I remember that there were episodes, where they made it seem as Jack was the last one to join the group, and af if Kim was part of the dojo as long as the others had and was never a black dragon.
