Gundam is not the only reason Feds win. In tha late war, GMs out there do be slaughtering ZAKUs, DOMs and GELGOOGs thus there are very few returning soldier of Zeon

I didn't bother to actually check, but I believe the gundam didn't really have a big impact. It's all about conscripts who were on a farm or in some gang last week thrust into the front lines in endless meat waves like america in world war 2.

@@RexWort Hate to pull an "umm, acshually," but this would be the opposite of A Baoa Qu. By December 0079, Zeon had basically exhausted its manpower reserves. Gihren and Kycilia even mention how they're fielding trainees with minimal experience because of this. Side 3 had a relatively small population, after all, and had lost half its fighting men by August of 0079. Zeon's prototypes were good, but the Gelgoog was too little too late in the hands of mostly rookiee pilots, and projects like the Apsalus and Big Zam drained their already dwindling supply lines. And of course, Zeon's already folding morale (Sovereign Degwin had just been killed) crumpled with Gihren's death. Anyone with any sense either surrendered or withdrew to regroup with Delaz or at Axis. Operation Star One was the worst nightmare for Zeon, no bones about it. Even if the Federation didn't have its experience advantage, Gihren's lust for power ended up making Kycilia decapitate the nation, with Char's own desire for revenge ending the dynasty. Ironically the Federation could have done nothing and Zeon would still have lost.

While the vast majority of the defensive force arrayed in the Fields around A Baoa Qu were pulled from the military training programs prematurely and therefore hadn't seen combat you still had some of the hardest bastards Zeon had left defending it. Particularly the survivors of then Captain and soon to be self proclaimed Admiral Delaz from Solomon, the royal guard contingent that came with Gihren from Side 3 though the best of them had stayed behind to deal with the aftermath of the Zum City anti Zabi revolt but still. Kycilia's relief column from Granada likewise contained more veterans from her own forces though they had been whittled prior to arrival. In terms of individual aces though? Through retroactive inclusion from video games like Encounters in Space, side material like MSV and etc though Zeon had the Federation outnumbered in this capacity as well, from the future Invisible Knights, Char, Ridden, The White Wolf, The Nightmare of Solomon, the list just goes on. The Feddies meanwhile having just jumpstarted their own mass production of the GM back in October, really had very few veterans whose first battle wasn't Solomon just days prior. Feddies had Zeon beat in manpower at A Baoa Qu and not much else.

@@zachdelozier2133 Lol, good rebuttal. Though I still disagree - Zeon may have more aces, but the Federation had several advantages beyond just manpower. The biggest would be morale. By the start of the battle, Zeon had lost most of its territory on Earth, two of the Zabi heirs were dead, and the sovereign himself was - ahem - "missing." Then there's the defeats across space, especially at the fortress of Solomon, that made defeat seem all but inevitable. The Federation might not have had as many aces, but they had a much higher quality fighting force overall. GM and fighter pilots were still well trained and much less fatigued than long-serving aces. Plus, the Feddie front was much more unified while Zeon was already fragmenting into internal factions - you didn't have Revil loyalists deserting like the Delaz fleet did after Gihren's execution. The Feddies also had better supply lines thanks to the GM's standardized design, while the Zeon maintenance plan still hadn't quite ironed out their supply issues. A few dozen good aces just can't make up for the bulk of Zeon's forces being undertrained, undersupplied, and suffering from crippled morale. But again, the real cause of Zeon's defeat was its own infighting. Even if Zeon had a quality force at A Baoa Qu, Gihren's death would still have broken their coordination and allowed a swift defeat.

​@@echoecho3155 Star One actually was sort of going tits up behind the scenes again if you account for the expanded material with Revil and half the Federation armada being lost to the colony laser, a good hunk of their reserve material, ammunition and general supplies had been lost in the better part of a picosecond when that stream of plasma disintegrated depending on source and amount anywhere from 120-800 vessels. That was after all the point of attack beyond just you know killing Degwin, hence Gihren declaring it impossible for the remaining Federation forces to attempt to force it's way past A Baoa Qu, with that much damage done to them prior to the battle, their own supply situation not being much better Zeon's which was actually improving since the war had returned to space and the reserve units were being activated, the general inexperience of the Federation pilots and the fact that Zeon trainees are much different from their Federal counterparts, 1. The MS programs aren't new to Zeon, they've been attached programs to the military academies since the early UC 70s with their first deployment in live battle taking place long before the OYW during the Revolution in Riah Meanwhile the Federal pilots just have whatever stimulations that they cooked up in a week off the GM test type data(From Odessa mostly, they had 15 of em there)and the learning computer readouts from the Gundam, not that a rookie still isn't a rookie but personally? I'd take someone who at least potentially had flight hours prior to the first combat sortie rather than just pure simulator time like the vast majority of the Federation pilots. Also I do somewhat agree on your point of the limited utility of the Ace Corp and other similar units but I'll also stress this, counting the OG RX-78? The Feddies lost four Gundams at that final battle for a reason, again I say that all the Federation had going for it was numbers and indeed I'd argue although this is just pure theory crafting on my part, without Kycilia killing Gihren, Zeon wins that battle.

Yeah, that's pretty accurate! A Baoa Qu was a totally random battle, stuff going on without rhyme or reason until the EFSF ordered in the counterattack and crushed the disorganized Zeon fleets. Combat was about that long and about that deadly for a lot of MS pilots.
