Pfft, that kind of anger belongs to a freakin rookie compared to my second last boss... Especially when he had beer/alcohol bottles strewn on the floor... His anger went right through every cell of my body... Of course all the times he was that bad was when I was the only one in the shop... Workers rights, forget it, a least for a small company that had 4 or less workers (Obviously we never had more then 4), the boss got 2 weeks advanced noticed before they investigated (Obviously that little fact had to be rubbed in), and the worker who made the call, got a permanent stain on his record for a false report (What a joke)... He already had other things going on in his life so guess what, he offed himself... It makes you wonder just how many people with power get away with stuff... Corruption is all too real, even here in Canada... The fact that, that boss was so good with hanging on a dime and being a real people person, did not help at all...

No one is harmed or violated by truancy or circumventing a test

If Mikey feels that it’s too overwhelming to do any schoolwork at all, then him/his family should go to counseling OR establish a 504 plan instead of punishing him.
