The barrel is actually used to store waterglasses you can pick up which restores your health, and with the barrel you can carry eight glasses. If you have a barrel already however you shouldn’t buy it from the store.

I miss all those old NES booklets, with Syren tits and sexually confused pink creatures who spit eggs. In all seriousness though...the old booklets were always so much fun to look through. They were always such a big part of the nostalgia for me. Most games don't even come with booklets anymore.

3:14 Chris forgot to say that the Barrel holds 8 Potions of Life. Without it, Pit can only hold 1 at a time. It's important to mention the Barrel. You also can't buy a second Barrel, so you will never worry about accidentally getting it from the Black Market if you have enough Hearts or use the Credit Card. Finally, Chris failed to mention that the Black Market dealer ALWAYS laughs at you REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU BUY. Chris has become really uneducated about the games he plays nowadays.

Your supposed to level up to get more health. You have an invisible experience stat that gets lower every time you get hit or miss with an arrow, but goes up every time you hit something. So you just have to grind in each level for a while hoping you get a life bar extension between levels.

PunkNDisorderlyGamer I think James just got tired of doing AVGN and wants to move on to something different. He still occasionally posts a new AVGN once in a while because he feels obligated to his fans, but you can tell that his passion isn't quite there anymore. Why is this called Kid Icarus if the chatacter's called Pit... where's Icarus??
@weirdsearchhistory58768 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's weird. The name Icarus comes from the Greek Myth of Icarus and Daedalus. Daedalus made a pair of wings for himself and his son, Icarus flew too close to the Sun which melted the wax and he fell to his death. So, I guess the connection is strictlly based on the similarities between the mythical Icarus and Pit.

@TheNorilla9 жыл бұрын
First off, you're suppose to use the hammers in the fortresses on the Centurion Statues to free them, and they'll help you out in the boss fight. A known thing about the first Kid Icarus game is that the hardest part of the game is the underworld... as in the first world. With all of the upgrades and items you'll be getting through out the game will make the other worlds easier. I should also point out that the ending is based on how many hearts you have at the end, with having 999 hearts gives you the best ending. I've heard there was also an ending where she turns you into an eggplant in the end, but I'v never seen it. And what the barrels do is let you carry 8 potions rather then being able to carry one. I'm not sure if you knew this (since you never mentioned it) but you can only upgrade your health when you have a high enough score value, and you can only get the weapon upgrades when you have enough health upgrades. You also forgot to mention the treasure rooms where you brake pots, but one of them will have the God of Poverty in one... so what you do is brake all of them that doesn't have the God of Poverty, then brake his pot last (which one he's in is random, but there's set patterns and you figure out which one he's in by seeing which pots give you which items. And the last pot will give you items like a credit card, feather, a bottle, or a barrel. There's also a cheat code that you can put in while shopping that have the shop owner lower his prices... but beware, it can some times raise the prices.
@EmperorAlgus9 жыл бұрын
I remember if you hold select on the 2 controller the shop dealer with the lowest prices will drop them even more.

This game is in my top 5 favorites of the NES library, and it was the first video game I ever owned. But yeah, he completely left out the point of the hammers that are used to free the soldiers in stone to help you in boss fights.
