I was watching an old episode from the 1980's that included 12 year-old twin girls that he kissed a couple of times each, and I was thinking, " why? Is that really necessary?" (It was on the lips too, if I recall correctly).

This skit has be based on a CTV kids' game show called "Just Like Mom". It aired from 1980-85. The host and creator along with his wife Catherine Swing, was Fergie Olver. I had the bad luck of watching it only once way back when. It was just as cringy then, too! Totally WTF stuff! "Who and why is this stranger kissing my kid?!" Thank you Janelle!

Ao I read this (on Richard Dawson), and it surprised me: He allegedly asked viewers to vote on whether or not they would like him to stop. The votes came in 14,600 to 704 in favor of kissing, according to Hogan's Heroes: The Unofficial Company. The book also reveals that contestants filled out a questionnaire before each game including, "Do you mind if Richard Dawson greets you with a kiss?" Apparently, not many declined.

Is this some weird parody on that 70s gameshow called "Just Like Mom" ? Canadian show that had the host always creepily kissing all the little preteen girls and trying to hug them. KZbin "Pedophile Game Show Host" or "You Give Out Kisses, Don't You?" and it has loads of footage of the show. The real life host in question was called Fergie Olver. Whilst the skit isn't at all offensive to me ( it's kinda funny in places i guess ) it's an odd choice of skit if it really IS based on something so creepy in real life ! :D

It´s a good skit, it just makes fun of something what actually would happen decades ago and people just thought it was ok. Lots of perverted show hosts just got away with everything - remember Jimmy Savile? You find it disturbing now? Great, that´s just a proof that our society is changing.

@@thomasbenau2810 When I was a kid, I found Richard Dawson creepy AF, and even though I loved the Price is Right, Bob Barker ALWAYS making the women reach into his pocket for the $100 was weird every time. Bunch of damn perverts back then. And yeah, kids were forced to kiss ppl all the time (usually someone you/the parents hadn't seen in a while) because no one ever suspected a relative, or friend, really anyone, would be a pedo. And usually they weren't, but a kid can tell when something's "off". I never even heard of pedos till I was like 14. But in our teens, I remember my cousin and I thinking one priest was a perv because he always made you hug him after confession (we didn't use the old screens, it was face to face there.) Dunno what happened to that guy, but since then have found out a friend's uncle and a Math teacher were abusing kids aged 4-15. Kids never told their parents because they were afraid no one would believe them, or they were so freaked out they pushed it out of their minds.
