This marriage is obviously doomed. Why does the mother behave like she’s in prison - she claims she can’t go outside (with that beautiful yard?!) and never takes the kids out anywhere, which is so weird. The kids are reacting to parents that are completely checked out. The parents also speak in the strangest monotone, which suggest extreme depression and likely other mental health issues. The mother’s constant referencing to “breaking” is not positive, and her ridiculous idea that kids should just “behave” like she did points to major issues with her own mental health.

Kids act out and misbehave because they crave structure and discipline. Parents need to set and enforce clear rules with consequences. Don't try to be your kids friend. Don't try to reason with them. Everyone will be happier and better adjusted when the parents are in charge.

I love Jo Frost. I'm sure we all do here. I hope she feels that.

It's absolutely not fair to say eat your food or you're going in time out. I was forced to eat more food than I could eat and was punished. My parents were both obese and gave me too mch. Eat what you take and that's it. If you want more, there's more.

So the interaction between the husband and wife explains everything. He straight shuts her down and she is shut down. I genuinely feel so bad for her

She has all day with her kids ,and she never engages with them. She is sleepwalking. She bears responsibility for the family dynamics as does the father .

I fell every mothers pain wholike myself is responsible for everything inside and outside the home. Our 10yr relationship is now merely roommates trying to tolerate eachother. All I was is for him to leave so myself and our now 6yo daughter can heal and be happy again.
