yess, I read a book about Pompeii in middle school and the body castings are crazy to see. As someone who lives in New Orleans as well, we are beyond low in sea level. I’m a little bit further down in New Orleans, so any “light rain” best believe certain streets are getting flooded.

Most dogs with great smell and hunting instincts are too smart to do something so stupid and would smell the animal even before you went up the bridge, it wouldn't run up the bridge to then jumpt off to get the prey that's on the ground they already smelled. A sound that only dogs can hear and makes them fearful would make way more sense if you don't look at supernatural explanations.

The first story, I’m not too surprised considering like Kidd mentioned, discoveries occurred so much back in the day and a lot was from lack of knowledge. As for the dog jumping bridge, I disagree with the animal behaviorist because of it was to get closer to the scent, why would surviving dogs climb the hill again only to jump again without hesitation? Dogs may have problems with depth perception, they do learn their lesson if something scares them, they are not going to do it again. I’m not saying it’s paranormal but my main concern is why the country doesn’t provide barriers to prevent the dogs from jumping.
