The gender reveal trend started in 08. The creator has repeatedly come out saying she regrets it. She said she did it as she had trouble having a child in years past and she finally was about to have one. She also wanted her mother to celebrate it, they didn’t get along, so she made a party out of it on her mother’s birthday so her mom would show up. The mom didn’t show up but they had the party anyway. The creator didn’t think any of it, but she was interviewed about it by those maternity magazines and the idea didn’t blow up until a year later as the magazines were in doctor’s offices for expecting mothers to read.

I remember the ice cream one a few years ago. It was surreal seeing almost every box or carton of ice cream having a black blinking lock around it. After the "trend" died off, it went back to normal. But I still think about that from time to time when I buy ice cream nowadays. It's crazy to think that stores had to lock up ice cream for a time. I remember a few years ago seeing this woman lick fruits/vegetables because she had the sickness and wanted to spread it to everyone else. I'm SO glad that that didn't become a stupid trend, but I wouldn't be surprised if other people did that too.

Music artists today cannot make money with albums or singles anymore. They only make money on tours and endorsements. That tour comment is 100% false. Touring is the only way today to get mass exposure - unless you’re on some legendary status and even Beyonce and Taylor isn’t selling all that well. Today we’re calling Taylor Swifts album going double platinum a massive hit 😂
