The best fried chicken I ever had in my entire life still to this day was made by a old Lady called Mrs. Mckenzie she was from Arkansas and moved up to Buffalo NY years ago and had a small stand in the city. Mrs. Mckenzie was the meanest old woman I ever met in my entire life. Mrs. Mckenzie would be rude as hell swear at her customers if they didnt hurry up and order, but it was worth it, she fried her chicken in straight Crisco, her chicken was not breaded but battered, she would serve breakfast in the morning and she turned me onto grits I still remember what she said to me I was 16 at the time : Dammit White boy your here with your grandma every damn saturday and still havent tried my M.F. grits and she slapped a bowl on the counter I was hooked from that day forward. Mrs. Mckenzie didnt have a time she closed only when she ran out of chicken then she would close. You could watch the deep fryers heating up as the grease went from a solid block of white fat to beautful golden color. Sadly she died 10 years ago and I miss that bitter old woman and her cooking.

If she was from Arkansas she was raised in the art of making fried chicken. Southern people are the best chefs in the country. We take pride in our cooking
