during cross examination attorneys often don't even care about the answers from the witness, they just prepare their story/narrative in a from of questions for the jury to hear

8:49 The whole "Hearsay" objection was *extremely* overused during this trial. If you yourself do something and then are asked what you did, that's not hearsay. Depp's lawyer asked when the agent reached out to people . . . which he has firsthand knowledge of, because _he_ is the one who reached out. I feel like Amber's lawyers need to go back to law school.

Cross examination is usually with yes and no questions. So AH team seem abrupt but it's normal. In redirect, Depp's team can clarify the answers in cross examination to allow the witness to give context. That's just how trials work. But AH's team did seem especially clumsy with how they did cross examination.

Amber didn't think Johnny would be so willing to show all the ugly bits of his life to the world just to expose her. She probably thought that was the safety net against ever having to corroborate her claims, Johnny being too shamed and scared that the world will see his flaws. But she harmed him and his name enough that he probably thought “Well I’ve got nothing to lose; let's do this.
