With the Watson case, what's more interesting is that Gabe was seen on camera removing flowers and gifts from Tina's grave. These gifts were chained down, and he used bolt cutters to remove them. The question is, why? If you're innocent, you wouldn't be incriminating yourself. I just researched this and it was found out that Gabe had a motive for doing this to his wife. She had a $210,000 life insurance policy he wanted.

The 2nd story, he’s been actually caught defacing and removing flowers that people leave at her gravesite, so that sounds like a guilt to me

The skull and tamping iron are on display because it shows the path of the projectile and what parts of the brain would've been affected, which makes it of value to the medical students there. And, as Mr. Ballen pointed out, it has a place in medical history and it advanced neurological studies. Also, Phineas developed a fungal infection on his brain, which should've been fatal, shortly after the injury, which the doctor was able to treat successfully. He should've died several times over but he, miraculously, beat the odds.

Still doesn't take away the weirdest of people's infatuation with someone who is dead. Plus I'm sure he didn't tell them the could take his skull.

@@KiddandCeeReacts That's just a matter of perspective. From a medical viewpoint, it's not weird at all. I mean we have literal museums full of desecrated corpses who definitely didn't give permission to be put on display. In a way, we all take some sort of knowledge from the dead, just in different ways.

@@nverted-dynamo I would argue it’s an ethics issue. Did he consent to having his skull immortalized for scientific purposes? Was he of sound mind if he did give consent?

Im not familiar with many medical practices regarding this but Im familiar with how archeologist perserve and siplay bones from dinosaurs. Im pretty sure they usually make a mold or a replica of th real thing as to not risk the actual bone not being damaged in case of a fire or other unseen circumstances. Either way i personally wouldnt feel comfortable putting the rod back in his skull and displaying it, but i guess thats why im not a medical professional.

@Devin That same point can be said about historical museums with mummies, no? Idk ethics (and humans as a species) are terribly convoluted... but hey, at the very least, when we're dead, not like we'll give a damn 😅

With the second story, I saw an episode of 48 Hours or something like that on that case. I recall hearing Tina's dad knew Gabe was abusive to Tina. I truly believe he murdered her.

The first story makes me feel really bad for the couple especially the husband. You can see it from a different angle like he had a last chance to see her but to me that was a cruel twist from fate. To think my loved one died and just to lose her again after she wakes up from her funeral now that's something which would make me miserable for the rest of my life.

What Mr Ballen didn't put into the story was.. just a.. minor detail... When the doctor came to see Phineas, Phineas sneezed or coughed, and quote "A half a teacup sized portion of the brain" came spilling out of his head. Yet miraculously minus a small seizure, he was totally fine considering the circumstances.
@storchnbein2733
@storchnbein2733 15 күн бұрын
Half a teacup more or less probably didn't matter at that point but seeing it live happen to a colleague or patient of yours is insane to think about.

You’re only truly dead if your brain stops working, in most of these situations the heart stops and as a consequence people pass out with no pulse so people assume their dead, but if they’re taken to the hospital doctors only determine them fully dead if there is no brain activity

What's even crazier about Gage is that he had 2 jobs after the incident. He was a farm laborer, then went to Chile to be a stagecoach driver. Idk who let a man who stockholm-pack bonded with what should have killed him behind the wheel, but they had to have been fired. Also, Gage vomited during his examination and the doctor said that quote: "the effort of vomiting pressed out about half a teacupful of the brain [through the exit hole at the stop of the skull] which fell upon the floor."

It's wild cause that first lady would've been called a zombie or witch centuries ago (or even still is some parts of the world). It's wild how science and technology can change our understanding. I always wonder how some of these victims might've faired had they had access to current medicine. First lady could've lived if they had an EEG to read her brain waves before declaring her dead. Last guy could've had a range of treatments as well. It's unfortunate how their lives ended, but it's good that we were able to learn from them and help similar victims like them in the future.

The 2nd story..I believe he killed her...I mean he was an experienced rescue diver yet apparently he didn't know what to do?? Come on now...that's BS....
@diwackabg

So the 1st one is a huge tragedy. 2nd - murder. Pure and simple. This wasn't her thing. It was his and he did it longer and was more knowledgeable so killing someone, he knows how. 3rd one - the brain and different parts do different things. Eyes are in the back of the head so his eyes, not damaged. His movement, speech etc. Seizure was the damage to his head and the brain not knowing what signal to send to the body.

39:02 I think it's morbid curiosity maybe. I'm not sure tho. To see what it looks like when your skull is broken or something. Because most people don't break their skull in their lifetime. Just my 2 cents,

2nd story, he completely murdered her, if the love of your life is strugglin underwater you grab their ass and carry them to the surface no matter how hard it is, at least you try to do it. That excuse of "I panicked and so I went alone to the surface to get help" is shitty as hell

39:12 well.. its science, no matter how gruesome it seems it fits a very good purpose, education. a lot of people also donate their body to science, back in the day you'd be taught with a real skeleton. human corpses donated to science are also used for example to study decomposition. you can tell how a corpse looks smells etc.. but experience is a WHOLE different thing. students need that experience if they're going to work in said profession. in my opinion this is a lot less cruel/gruesome then the Paris Catacombs. which has become in essence a macabre display of human death.. to a degrading point as a tourist attraction, and as little else then a tourist attraction.

How alive could the lady in that first story have really been though? Even if he couldn't afford the embalming, isn't there still a process in prepping corpes for funerals that should just as well have killed her?? At least if it's anything like the US
