A new *carbon monoxide alarm* for my house! Yes, I install it and tell you why you too should really ensure you too have a CO alarm in your house too. Watch on...

My house is all electric . . . just saying . . I'm pretty sure we can't have a CO2 problem. :D
@AskDaveTaylor11 жыл бұрын
Likely you don't have a CO2 problem anyway, but do you cook? Then you might have a potential issue with CO. :P

Once in awhile. It's just my daughter and me. We mostly use the crock pot or just eat sandwiches. Our food budget is very very small.

What I want to know is why is the monitor being placed so high on the wall? I've always been taught the gas is heavy and lays low so to place your detector lower to the ground.
@brka85227 жыл бұрын
They used to think that carbon monoxide was heavier than air, but they were wrong. It's actually slightly lighter than air. When there is a leak, carbon monoxide mixes with the air and floats up, so the best place is higher on the wall, not low to the ground.

well, it's a few weeks later (at least) and I don't recall even talking about a follow up video. :-)

i have the C3010, trying to figure out why the middle flashes every 30 seconds on all of them. thought i heard a chirp but according to online if im reading it right 30 seconds flash means its operating ok. i dunno if its red or green because im color blind just my luck

I needed to see how you put the wall mount on!!!
@AskDaveTaylor2 жыл бұрын
Umm... two screws directly into the wall. The unit's really light so you won't need the ability for it to bear weight.
@cynthiacuomo30273 жыл бұрын
Does this still beep when you install it? or only when it's detected carbon monoxide? I just purchased this Kidde C3019 model today... the one that I have now is still beeping even though I just installed new batteries.
@AskDaveTaylor3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you might have an issue to resolve regarding your air quality, Cynthia. I would check the included instructions or check on the Kidde site for online manuals. Good luck!

a fireman in another video said if it reads 9 parts per million to call 911 immediately ?
@AskDaveTaylor3 жыл бұрын
I think that fireman might be all wet. The EPA says "Average levels in homes without gas stoves vary from 0.5 to 5 parts per million (ppm). Levels near properly adjusted gas stoves are often 5 to 15 ppm and those near poorly adjusted stoves may be 30 ppm or higher." Ref: www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality-iaq/what-average-level-carbon-monoxide-homes
@wilcoxtactical3716 Жыл бұрын
I seen that video too. That fireman is a tard. 99% of CO detectors don't even detect levels until they hit 70 ppm. Even 9 was a concern 70 would likely kill you, assuming 9 was worthy of calling 911 (which it isnt). This particular Kidde detector (pronounced Kid not Kidda) detects levels at 11 but will alarm at 30ppm. That's the best you can get without buying a low level detector which are generally fairly low quality, don't last as long and are $100+. You can find these Kidde ones for $60 for 2 or occasionally on the each at about $20 on ebay. You can't beat that deal.

Haven't been able to get mine to turn on. You didn't show how to do it without that wall mount (which didn't come with mine).
@AskDaveTaylor6 жыл бұрын
Huh? That should be super easy. Check the instructions and just make sure your battery works properly :-)
@gdouglas9996 жыл бұрын
I read the entire user guide. They don't tell you a thing about turning it on if you don't have a backing plate (which didn't come with mine). Nothing I have done gets this thing turned on. It's exactly the same model as the one you are showing. How would you have activated yours if you did not have the backing plate to slide it into?
@mikesmith14272 жыл бұрын
Ditto. The instructions didn't tell us a thing about using it!!!!!! I thought your video would address that but apparently NOT! This is a worthless video unless You tell us how to turn it on?????
