It's fine. It's an absolutely moronic design choice - For paranoid people like me, anyway . Just had to change the batteries on mine. It gave "Lb" "code. The unit is excellent but yeah, very bad choice of reading out a test display number on something we touch once every 5 years. So when you press TEST on this model, it runs through a sequence: 1) 888 (chirp) 2) 2xx (chirp chirp chirp) delay... 2xx (chirp chirp chirp) 3) 888 4) returns to standby The manual says "this is not an actual reading"... it's just simulating one. Again, I'm angry that they'd even do this

HAVING TO PLUG IT IN IS A NON STARTER FOR those who will need to monitor emergency heat sources during a winter blackout. Is there a high quality battery operated unit available?
@paulinewoods3758 ай бұрын
I have a Kidde carbon monoxide alarm ( model 10LLCO). It definitely saved me a few years ago. It has now come to its end of life , bleeping every 30 seconds or so. I have just ordered a new one so need to wait on delivery but I cannot stop the existing alarm from bleeping. There is no silence button. If I hold down the Test/Reset button it stops gor a short time and restarts again. Cant listen to this for the next few days or I will be ready for the funny farm 😅. Would definitely recommend having an alarm. I accidentally forgot about my dinner cooking away in the oven, kitchen door was closed. I was in another room , the irony was I was checking out new kitchens online. Hear bleeping but knew it was not my smoke alarm which is in a different location in my house. I thought it was the tv program until I happened to change channels. Came out to find my kitchen totally full of smoke. Could not even see the main cooker switch on the wall to switch it off, had to feel my way along the wall. Any ideas how to stop this alarm bleeping ( it has a fixed battery so cannot remove it)

It should be mounted FIVE FEET above the floor. Most outlets are about 1 foot above ground. [CO is slightly lighter than normal air mix, according to experts, contrary to current myths that it is heavier. ]

it does not matter it will go off anywhere the gas stirs around in air they say put it at 5 feet so you can see it and because that is where you breath mine goes off for someone bumping a gas knob on stove all the time with real low levels in next room away from kitchen. but mine detects flammable gas and CO

I’ve always heard you should put a carbon monoxide detector down in a low outlet and a smoke detector up higher because c. monoxide gas stays lower and smoke goes higher. That’s why combo smoke, carbon Monoxide units don’t make a lot of sense. Is this true? Thank you for the video… you helped me figure out where to put the 9 V battery LOL
@dylanrendon5097 Жыл бұрын
Contrary to popular belief, Carbon monoxide isn't lighter nor heavier than air, it will actually spread among existing air, therefore technically you could put these detectors on the ceiling or down on an outlet. Now what I don't know is if Carbon monoxide follows the whole, hot air rises and cold air sinks rule. But since it does spread among air I would assume it doesn't, or at least not very well. But that's what I've learned.

I checked the highest reading and it was 105. Not sure when that happened. But, I decided to test mine. I stuck it directly on the the gas stove burner with the gas on but no flame. I left it for 1 minute. I can smell the gas but this thing stayed at 0 the whole time. I think with it on the stove and it going right into the detector it would Alarm. I checked the highest reading and it was still at 105. My testing could be flawed but I'm having little faith in this CM detector now.

Very confusing instructions. 2 of us read the manual several times and still confused. Brand new out of the package and the "low battery" voice came on. We figured it would take time for the battery to charge so listened to the voice for a while then decided that wasn't it. Re-read the manual. Holding the 'test/hush' button did nothing. The only thing that made that annoying voice stop was pressing the button in the back. Very unclear instructions. This stopped the nagging message but we are still unsure if this just turned of the nag forever or if this is what we were supposed to do. We also didn't hear any message about the "Hush" being active. The manual calls the back button "Deactivation/Discharge Switch" which had us believing that the low battery nag was deactivated, which we wouldn't want close to the end of the life of the unit. Totally horrible manual; needs to be rewritten more clearly! Very frustrating and still don't know for sure that the unit is working as it is meant to.

@Stemmer946 жыл бұрын
Kev.5 x Any time you push the Test/Reset button the alarm will go through a series of test numbers that are programmed into the unit to test the internal diagnostics of the unit. This will start with a 888 reading, then display numbers usually in the 200 range, then back to 888, and lastly to zero. These are not actual readings, so you do not be alarmed or take action. The Peak Level reading is just a memory. At one point the unit was exposed to something that caused the reading. It could have been a substance that was sprayed too close to the unit, paint fumes, or actual carbon monoxide that caused the reading.
