While the female ratio to the goat is awesome. Heather I don't know how you get anything done..." I would be like.... I think I need to go to the barn and check on the babies"... like a dozen times! Oh my goodness I don't know I don't think I could get anything done LOL. I have to force myself to actually get things done hahaha. But all kidding aside all the baby Doelings and bucklings are absolutely gorgeous! I don't know who's my favorite so far except I have to say the one with the walls and the one that looks like she has dark spots all over her LOL

THAT'S one reason I need kiddings to be spread out. I do helicopter mom thr babies for a few days at least!! Once they are jumpy and bouncy I can keep an eye on them easily from a few places around the farm because they are always out causing trouble lol

Hi Heather, Rochelle and Mike here. Glad we found your channel. We live on a small urban homestead and have a new channel. We have been gardening here in the hot central Texas climate for over 30 years and share our knowledge. Mike is a retired chef 28 years and he teaches preserving, fermenting and canning. The baby goats are so cute! Looking forward to watching your channel. Blessing to your family. Rochelle

I'm just going back to comment on all the videos I already watched but had no time to comment 🙃 This was a great way to look back at all the births, I enjoyed the recap and I'm also happy that you are building your herd the way you want, it really is a "work of love" to wait and see, but I think the more goats you have, the easier it is to start a "culling list" because of the comparison point, I started my culling list for the fall. Not that culling is a pleasant thought for me, but this year was an eye opener, and I'm so thankful for my goat mentor for suggesting hand milking everyone for the first 2 months, I really learned a lot, now I see it clearly, it's not "learning to milk" but seeing the differences and what you want and don't want in your herd. So that is how I started my culling list. Thank you for sharing, I loved seeing all the babies ♥ Blessings

That's great advice!!! I definitely have udder preferences at this point too and you're so right. A bigger herd gives the ability to be more picky.

Cuteness to the brim!!! You have been blessed with a beautiful group of kids this year!!! As for Havoc, "way to go dude"!!! Those are impressive results of girls vs. boys sired!! I agree with you that Elpis looks to have some swelling in her udder. Does that usually go away? Your purple make up was very stylish!!😂 Better than Revlon for wearing all day and into the night!! Thanks for a great video and stay safe!!!

At what age is the time to breed a doe ?
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead Жыл бұрын
It depends mostly on size but about 7 or 8 months is good, I know Nigerians should be about 40 lbs minimum and standard goats 80 to 120 lbs before breeding. It was suggested to me.that if I were to breed my standard goats at 80 lbs to make sure I bred them to a Nigerian and that's what I did! ♥️ Truthfully I'd like the mini lamancha to be 80lbs as well.

Calamity wanting that bottle was to funny lol silly girl. Baloo takes after her i think, personality wise. Havoc did awsome, he is defiantly a buck to keep using. I hoping butters next babies will be does instead of giant bucklings. I need your advice on something i will email you. Have a beautiful day❤🐐

I did want 🍓 strawberry blooms to come n they did 😍 n I now have some green n growing berries as i watered yesterday n put in more plants n produce 😍❗... I call it "the meat program" which is basically just our overflow buclkings kept back for meat. They spend the summer eating on grass and are processed in the fall. We have a video on the "why" of eating animals we love. I think that's what it is called. "Why we eat the animals we love". It's from last fall ♥️

Ahhh have so much fun!! Bottle feeding is one of those things that gets your hands on the animal and really gives you a good opportunity to assess how they are doing. I prefer dam raising for convenience, but bottle feeding has perks!!
