Defected Records are both proud and excited to announce the signing of Parisian DJ, producer and vocalist Kiddy Smile. Having already supported Beth Ditto’s band Gossip, created the sound design for Balmain & Alexander Wang’s fashion show, received praise from the Ed Banger crew and being compared to the likes of Azari & III and Hercules & Love Affair - this is an artist set to push both musical and visual boundaries in the dance music world.
To announce the signing, Kiddy Smile and Defected have unleashed the exceptionally powerful visuals for their first single together ‘Let A Bitch Know’, which is set to be released in late August. Deeply influenced by the sleazy, lazy feel of 80s / 90s house music and artists such as Frankie Knuckles and Romanthony, the track is an infectious slice of classic-sounding Chicago acid house, with Kiddy’s own fresh French twist.
Seeking to spread the love through his beats Kiddy Smile is an innovative artist, understanding the importance of music and aesthetics working in perfect harmony. Through his music and performances, Kiddy has kept the nostalgic sounds of the dancefloor very much alive, with a firm eye on the future - a huge part of Defected’s ethos for 17 years and counting.

@@trappnest4490 Mais depuis l'arrivé de Willi Ninja avec McLaren et les Xtravaganzas avec la Ciccone en 1991-1992 les Americains surtout on decendu sur Paris et dans les defilés de mode ainsi que dans les boîtes de nuit, PARIS WAS BURNING. Depuis, je lis que le Voguing descend qu'en 2007 a Paris mais écoute à Montréal dans un bar de cuir j'ai fait du Voguing avec Jean Paul G (il frequentais le barman pendant une chaude minute) et Wili Ninja (mon honte éternel c'est que j'ai jamais compris que c'étais lui et non une sosie... on dansais on ne parlais pas... et je crois qu'il y avais comme à Montréal une scene transplanté mais clairement un lieu privilegé pour la grande parti des Parisiens qui y assistais... au Bains Douches par exemple. En 2005 KZbin seme la folie pur du style a fond et on voit la vrai croissance d'une culture populaire disons Q U E E R AF. Ce que j'apprecies énormement. Ce qui manque dans ces histoires de ballroom satellites c'est le lien entre les deux phenomenes. A Montréal j'ai jugé le denier Bal des 90's. Et puis le Rave a pris l'ampleur et je crois a Paris aussi et a Berlin... tendence plus blanche mais c'est non plus que cela. ETC Kiddy Smile avec cet extrait et ce video éblouissant m'a coupé le souffle. Voguing is eternal. It is Black. It is Latin. It is Queer Trans Woman Man Whatever You May Be GET INTO IT. :)
