thing is it goes both ways, at 17-20 Messi was miles better, CR7 did not really blossom until 20 years old. He was actually a bit of a meme in this first 2 United seasons, used to get pushed off the ball easy,and dribble a lot into touch. He was clearly very talented but he was a bit of a joke to the rest of the league, ...until one summer he bulked up (20 years old) and from then on was an absolute monster. But people forget his first couple of seasons in the prem. They were not bad, but they were quite average. I am old enough to remember these times, I can remember teasing my brother about him (he is a Man U fan) , I was eating my words only 18-20 months later but this is the truth, anyone who says different is either lying, romanticising the past or too young to remember. Dont get e wrong from 20 years old onwards he was absolutely phenomenal
