The Ballon d'or is for (mainly) the best performing of last season and what accolades they acquired. Messi was by far the best player in the world cup and won it. Had a great year at club level too. It would've been fine if he didn't win it as Haaland had a fantastic year, but people saying "robbed" simply don't understand how these awards work.

People always be hating but the truth don’t care. Argentina 🇦🇷 was not the best team in the competition, they should never have won. Messi carried! Inter Miami; worst team in the MLS, they should never have won. Messi carried! Ballon d’Or is about individual performance, and sportsmanship and attitude (hence why Zlatan never won; he was once invited for a trial at Arsenal and refused because “Zlatan doesn’t do trials” literal quote) Messi deserved every win and hopefully, in this new era of youngsters, his example will give us a more competitive game. Personally, I don’t like Messi the man, but Messi the player….gotta give him his flowers.
