Hey KidKrappie! That guy’s me. First of all, apologies if I offended you. But kinda cool that I made it on to your video! I’m sorry I didn’t say anything when I was fishing there. I actually recognized you and wanted to give a shout! I’ve fished Denton Creek for several years now and that spot I was on is part of my usual routine. I start at the hole just downstream around the bend then work my way up to that one, fishing that tight corner just past the deep hole before making my way to this spot (not many people know this but that shallow run just down stream from this run usually holds a pretty good number of fish!). The bank you’re on is always full of gear fisher, very cordial and friendly guys. In fact I was chatting up the guy next to you before you showed. I like to fish that side where I was because it allows me to fish along with the gear fishers without getting in they’re way and the hole in front of you against the wall is deep and usually has a lot of fish that are easily accessible from the spot I was at. Again, sincere apologies if you thought I was fishing your spot since you had caught some there. But, I was going to fish that spot regardless if anyone in your side of the creak had caught anything or not as it’s part of my routine. I’m guessing you fish Denton Creek often, but if not I’d be more than happy to fish with you some day and share with you the spots I like to fish. Tight lines and thanks for all your informative videos!
@KidKrappie10 ай бұрын
I appreciate the apology. You didn’t have to and thats respectable. I rarely fish that spot long due to the people but just so happened to stop by that day. It may have been an overreaction on my end too but in the moment I was offended. I apologize for that. No hard feelings.. next time I’m out there and you see me come on over and say hey.. I will hook you up with some jigs too👍🏼 -Anthony

I'm sorry I don't think you did anything wrong. @thorbrigade10 ай бұрын
I mean, even if you're a follower it does not exempt you from ethical behavior. One should never fish ontop somebody who has been fishing or casting at a particular spot. If you insist and is not able to pass up on the hole, asking ahead of time if you can share the hole would be nice. One should always give room to other anglers who was already there or is currently working the particular hole, it's only ethical and I had assumed every fishermen knows that. I've worked and found holes where fish were holding up and worked it for hours and have had a boat showed up, see me catch & sat (anchor) right ontop of my cast before - continuing to vertical jig, disturbing the area & fish and then moving along when the fishes was no longer there. Be respectful. If you want part of the action, just ask nicely and more than likely most people would agree to it. But just running up and start crossing lines and disturbing the area, thats disrespectful. Bank fishermen, same thing. As me and my friends usually joke around, "is the lake not big enough for you?" For you to come and fish right at where I'm fishing.

Creek fishing brings out the worst in people. I could write a book about some of the confrontations I have had as well as seen over the years. Its getting worse out on the lake as well. I took a short scouting trip to a few spots on Friday as well before that front blew in. I only took one rod and a pocket full of lures and that was it. First spot I found a few big males and the next spot I hit the mother load of decent size males. Not one single female yet. May try to fish tomorrow afternoon if I can.

Kid, don't let the nay sayers get under your skin. I would have done the same thing: avoid the intruder and move on. Noting his lack of sportsmanship/respect was completely proper. I've been fishing for over seventy years and I've seen a lot of stuff . Until the last few years, fishermen and hunters seemed to consistently show more respect for others in the field than what was shown by any other part of society. I'm afraid road-rage is going to spill over to water-rage - hope it doesn't go that far, but it's nearly there already. You were the gentleman and avoided having a confrontation with the intruder. And, you were right to point out to the viewers that this type of thing can cause ill feelings and could lead to more than lines getting tangled. I always look forward to your videos and appreciate the work you do to make them with quality content.

It's been slow for me after the cold front that fished pretty well, you can always time your casts when fishing in the same spot like that like how commercial fishermen do it works a lot better when everyone's using hi-vis line too, also if he stood like 5-6 feet away from you he could of fished in the same area alot more effectively since y'all would be able to cast in the same spot without crossing lines.

Its almost spring, water is warming, fish moving shallow in the creeks or coves, many of these people have not wet a line in months, they have cabin fever, spending months getting their new gear ready, just remember this, if you don't know them, you are in their way. When you walk up on a popular creek and no trash, the fish bite is slow. If you can see on a weekday the parking lot and cars are packed in one small area, they are biting. Potlicking becomes viral, you either avoid it or take it.

I appreciated the gentleman's apology. It did appear that initially he just didn't see that you had been casting to that spot. As fishermen in public waters it is always good to be respectful of your fellow fisherman. We have to pay even more attention and be more aware of others on crowded / popular waters. I used to live in Rowlett, TX. Each year I really looked forward to that white bass run in Rowlett Creek! The last two years that I lived there were tough though. Some foreigners moved into the area (two different nationalities) and would go out two or three families strong. I'm not prejudiced, but these families were just rude! They would come and just clean out the fish. Totally ruined the experience the last two years I lived there. I believe in this case it was a cultural difference. Like I said, not prejudiced... as a matter of fact, there were some resident Texans that were just rude as well. If they saw you were catching fish, they would just move to were you were fishing. Come on man! Really? Have some class, consideration and respect! The first year this happened I was able to move and go to some other spots where the catching was good, but by year two, it was game over once the word got out. At least I had a few good years before the rudeness started. That was 20 years ago. I can only imagine what it might be like now. Cheers!

Next time you see someone taking pictures of something, pull out your camera and just move out in front of them so you can take your own pictures. It’s the exact same self-serving mentality. You walked up to where they were already fishing and were nearly casting at that other guy's feet and then complain when someone moves to fish the area you're casting in.

Bro, heres a fight back story. Years ago me and a buddy were fishing the bonita run on a jetty at Newport Ca. The fish travel in schools up and down the jetty. 99% of the guys just get a spot and wait till the school comes by. You get lime 3 or 4 minutes to catch. Easy deal. However, one day there was a group of 4 illegals with their pop bottles with line gizmos. They decided to run up and down the top of the jetty chasing the schools. Throwing their hand lines right over the other fisherman. Big mess. Lots of tangles, etc. Long story short, when they got behind me I told em in spanish that Im not gonna watch out. They were laughing and yapping until one got a 1 oz 5/0 jig buried in the arm. They quit laughing .

I didn't know you owned that particular spot in the water. He didn't cross your line and you on the other side bitching...

What's worse. Sharing a fishing hole, or pumping videos out revealing to the world where the fish are biting for a little recognition?
