I loved 28 out of 31 years of my career. I spent three years in detectives working Crimes Against Children. I know this is a stupid clip from a stupid TV show. I know the crap I see in movies is fake and is just going after drama, shock effect etc. but almost every time I see this my wife has to put her hand on my arm to remind me that it's only a movie, etc. When you deal directly with the evil that's done to our most innocent victims of our society you hate the world a little more and more, bit by bit to the point that everyone not involved in police work is a criminal and even then some are. You'd be amazed thou just how many firefighters and correctional officers I had to arrest during this stint. I hated them more than just any criminal because they hid behind the badge and/or their jobs. I nearly begged NOT to be assigned to that outfit but I was told that because of my hatred toward these types of crimes that the chief knew I would be successful at it. I left that dreaded unit in 97 and I still see their faces and still talk about some of the cases when asked. Sorry for the long, boring reply but to be honest I wrote it for a selfish reasons, it's actually for my benefit. However, if you're still reading this I thank you.

My brother-in-law’s brother-in-law absolutely loves to arrest officials and police officers. It makes his day because the bad ones, (a tiny percentage btw) get away with it for so long they have an outside influence on how the police in general are thought of and treated. It’s just a job. Sometimes hard and often very easy. But it’s a very important part of our society and good cops are desperately needed to keep it running.

I ask thieves, druggies, all the time why they do certain things and they'll be honest, mostly to pay to self medicate, etc. Those few bad officers hide in the shadows and makes all of us look bad, they get NO sympathy from me.

In America, there is a notorious case that they've named "the boy in the box" case, aka "Americas unknown child". He was found, murdered and stowed away in a box in 1957 at the age of 4. They never knew his true identity, there was never a missing child report done for him and nobody would come forward knowing who the boy was. In December of 2022, very recently, with new technology with DNA and genealogy, his identity is finally known. Yes I have a heart I am a dad of a preemie baby boy that had to go back home 17 days and a few hours later. I was 46 years old. He was my first and only child ever. I don't feel sorry for me so nobody else does. I will just be 48 years old come November 2022. I set the stone for him just recently.

There is a person, who works on this show, who was a cop/detective in Chocago police department for 30 years, works as a producer and technical edvisor on this show, most of the stories you see here are real (maybe more dramatic, becauae it's still a show, but the main stories are real. Real cops often show up on the set, when they aren't working, so most of the time, the cops you see are real chicagoean cops). It's neccessary, because Chicago is very different from other cities in terms of crime.
