I'm getting my transplant next week (March 2021), the scariest things for me are the potential side effects from anti rejection medications
@TransplantFitness3 жыл бұрын
That's super exciting! ✨ After you've overcome the initial process of your body getting used to the meds you won't even feel the side effects too much. I hope this week and transplant day go OK for you! Sending you lots of good wishes 💜💜💜

I had my transplant in 1997. The side effects are nothing compared to not having a kidney 😉

Great video again Mark. Like your bro, I had key hold surgery to remove my kidney and they stitched and glued my insertions. However, I’m in week 3 now and my sides still look swollen and it hasn’t really gone down yet. Still sore etc and my lower abdomen is still sore too. Especially to touch. Can you or your bro offer any advice here? Thanks

What stage kidney function do you have because stages 3 and perhaps 4 are reversible if you know how.

Hi mate. Just had my kidney transplant last Tuesday so coming to the end of week 1 now. I’m really struggling with keeping up with my urine output, and worried that I’ll end up too dehydrated as I’m peeing a hell of a lot. Any tips on keeping up with the urine output? Or is it just a case of drinking loads of water
@TransplantFitness3 жыл бұрын
Hey bud! I suffered from the same thing after my transplant. I would pee 6-7 times a day and it would keep me up at night. I told my doctor and I was given a tablet called Fludrocortisone which helps the body retain water better. I take 1 every 2 days. It worked perfectly for me!
@FrightF2 жыл бұрын
@@TransplantFitness sorry mate, but fludrocortisone just makes you retain more SALT. Did you notice puffiness or swelling in the feet? What wouldve been a better idea was to always drink atleast SALT with your water. SALT is never your enemy and its less of an enemy in this situation. Also, 5 litres a day of water is too much for someone with regular kidney function, its not magically not too much for someone without proper kidney function.

I just got a kidney transplant couple days ago and I want to shower so bad but I’ll lowkey kinda scared and when I walk I can’t walk straight cause of the pain
@TransplantFitness3 жыл бұрын
Aww I know that feeling as well! I had to sit down in the bath and have my wife shower me for at least a month after. I don't think I showered by myself until I had my staples removed 6-8 weeks after transplant. You'll start to feel stronger my friend I promise!

You should lay down and raise your leg up on a few pillow. It seems like you might have an issue with your blood flow circulation. I definitely recommend you tell your doctor.

Hyperhydrated and Dehydrated have the symptoms. It is impossible to know which one you had. My thoughts on nephrologists suggesting 5, 3 etc of fluid a day is ridiculouse, it truly is. Everyone on this planet should know if youre forcing yourself to drink that much fluid, it should have electrolytes in it, not just be water or tea or coffee because youre going to just lose too many electrolytes. Youre already suffered electrolyte depletion because of the surgery and now they want you to pee out what you have left? Truly outstanding misunderstanding of human physiology. Believe me when I say, SALT is your friend NOT GLUCOSE. Just think about it and dont blame yourself. Neprhologists have a procedure to adhere to, it does not mean this is right. It just means, thats what theyve been taught. This is what actually happened, you drank entirely enough but you naturally peed it out because that was excessive amounts for the body to cope with. And with excessive peeing goes electrolytes. Its the amount you were drinking. Do people realise drinking too much water, like when youre not thirsty, results in stress on the kidney? And thus your kidney creatinine levels went up and you needed electrolytes. Get the picture?
