I've been living in Korea for almost 3 years now, and I remember once I had an appointment with someone but didn't know it was gonna rain... but there was no convenience store nearby... While waiting for the crosswalk light to turn green, an old man came up to me and insisted I take his umbrella ;0; people usually tend to mind their own business here (at least in Incheon and Seoul), but sometimes there are a few rare gems who show such kindness, it gives me faith in humanity.

This reminds me of when I met my wife. I was going home after my classes and it started to rain so I ran to the nearest shelter and stood there waiting for the rain to stop, there were so many college students going home after classes and the street was crowded, just then I saw a beautiful girl in a yellow flower printed umbrella walking past me, I'm actually a shy reserved guy but I don't know what happened that moment, I immediately went up to her, kinda startled her a little I guess and I was like "can I walk with you till the bus stand?" and she was like "okay sure" and that day I ended up walking her home instead. We met up the next day because I had to return her umbrella 😉 We dated for six years, got married and now are parents to a five year old daughter.

Kokichi Ouma yes of course, english is taught everywhere, Korean well just a few people learn it outside Korea. But still, everyone in the video has a really good level of english. English is a mandatory subject in school in my country, but still very few people manage to speak it well or even understand it, unless you go to a private school chances are you didn’t learn a word in english while in school.

Speaking from experience, a good portion of Koreans living in Seoul can speak and carry conversations in English. Especially those people who work with airport, transportation, accommodations, food, bank, police, etc. The only ones who are less likely to speak English are the elders but sign language and body movements go a long way lol They are also extremely helpful, some would even ask you if you need help before even asking around. We got lost in the subway system before and thankfully a good samaritan approached me and my friends since we look so helpless, looking around for signs and the map and only armed with basic korean 😅

I would definitely share my umbrella, but my first question would be why are you alone?
