Kids Bedrooms, Bathroom + Powder Reveal, Episode 3 | Hinterland Hideaway New Build | House 10

We're super pumped it's that time of the week again when we get to share more of #thehinterlandhideaway with you!
If you loved the tiles we used in the laundry, get excited because there's lots more tile goodness coming your way this week, as well as some damn hot rendered internal walls. And another gorgeous wall niche because #mediterraneanfarmhouse
Here's what you'll see in Episode 3:
+ The main bathroom... sans toilet
+ The pretty powder room - oh, there's the loo!
+ The gorgeous guest bedroom - with a special touch from Sophie's mum. Now we see where she gets it from!
+ Toddler Hendrix's bedroom... cute but cool
+ And bedroom #3... who will live here? cats out of the bag...

I love the style of the whole house. But the house is soooo big, why are the kids rooms so small? I can't imagine the kids being teenagers and needing a normal-sized bed, then the whole room is filled with just the bed.

laramenke it’s the one thing I didn’t like about this house I would have both the toilet and a powder room. She mentioned that she loves to entertain so it seems really impractical especially since she has a vanity and all that room there

in a lot of europe its normal that the toilet is seperate from the bathroom. i like it because we also usually only have 1 of each so whenever the bathrooms being used i can still use the toilet and vice versa. some people i know dont like doing their business in the same room they clean themselves in (?). but its true that they could have done both with the space given for when guests are over.

A great benefit of having the toilet seperate is if anyone is showering ( or having a luxurious bath like this one definitely calls for), the rest of the household are able to use the toilet without interrupting. Including the toilet in the bathroom is a great idea if you are concerned about space though!

How unearth is Sophie going to get anything out of her son's wardrobe? at 9:41 you see that if she were to open it up, the wardrobe doors would hit the bunk bed posts. The only way you could possibly get in is to do one door at a time and squeeze through. Even then I am not sure if there is enough space to open each door completely.

Love these videos, I think I’ve seen them all! It would be really interesting if you showed us the eleventh house in another format; showing us weekly / monthly updates and do them 30 (ish) minutes long. I would love to see the progress from each video and more details per stage in a build/renovation. Love the professional vibe of the production, but you could easily do it more personal and longer without loosing that.

Such stunning design! Did you ladies consider a jack & Jill bathroom between rm 2 & 3? Also, since rm 4 is a guest room, It would have been nice to see that it had an on suite. Especially since you had the space when you created the beautiful hallway that you cross when entering the home. However the powder room is a nice touch! Good job ladies!!

Yea, that seems like a foolish decision. Kids coming out of the bathtub needing to go to the bathroom, have to rush across the hall and make a giant water mess in the process. There's been a lot of decisions that seem incredibly questionable. The fridge not in the kitchen, the entire foyer area being non-functional, this bathroom thing. And did you notice that it looked like there was no room to open up the closet doors with the bunk bed in front of it? Also, that built-in headboard is going to be a nightmare. That room will have to stay like that forever, or they will have this weird, out-of-place feature if they try to change the orientation/use of the room, or they will have to do construction again to get rid of it. I feel like they are prioritizing beauty over function, and sure it might look nice, but who cares if living in it is a logistical nightmare. Truthfully, I am disappointed by the design in this house.

Did anybody else notice in the little boys bunk room it appears there’s not enough room to open the closet doors. I wonder if this was an oversight or if it was there just for styling purposes and they are going to move the bunk bed to the other wall once they finish filming? Either way this is my favorite house they’ve done so far!! It’s gorgeous!

HI Vincent - its Sophie here, doors can open as they are only 420mm doors. Its a little hard to tell in photos and videos but we are moved in and they are working perfectly :)

notsniw135 they make specific water resistant paint for bathrooms. When the giprock you use in bathrooms has to be mouldproof

The walls are rendered and waterproof :)

The walls themselves might not get mouldy, but soap residue definitely will - and unfortunately the friction of removing that residue will also compromise the integrity of the water proofing. It would not be up to code in any of the countries I am familiar with - and whoever owns that house will have to paint / refinish / reseal those walls quite frequently to keep them from looking grimy. Beautiful as it may be, it's certainly not practical.
