correction, the MLS wasn't around in the 80s, it was started in 1996 and the penalty was kind of modelled after Hockey for some reason which ended in 1999.

It'd be cool to follow a youth players career from 13 to retirement, but career mode is only 15 years, so you leave that guy in his peak and you can't carry on with him. Unless you do a pcm, then retire and to a mcm and find the guy. But that seems like too much work.

youth academy is good except gk's have single digit diving stats (which makes them useless) and outfield players all have single digit or near heading accuracy (which makes them as good as useless)

Not everyone is European bro, some have Asian gene or South East Asia. My friend name Dani is literally a Singaporean around 5"2-5"4. Asian is just smaller.
