The best thing to do is leave an empty basket out, with a sign theat says "Take one". That way, they don't knock on your door, and assume some other asshole in their neighborhood took all the candy.

Idk, I think the town I'm in usually does whatever weekend day is closest to Halloween. It's always like a Friday or Saturday. Which is the way to do it. These dudes have no idea what they're about. You get what you get, go back to your buddies house, max on candy while you and boys play Halo till Sunday night and go home.

The adults were once the kids back in the 90’s smashing pumpkins, egging houses, stealing all the candy and putting it in their pillow cases. Hell that’s what we all did. I still find it mind blowing that I can now as an adult leave our pumpkins out and they aren’t all over the street in the morning

That's because for us 90's kids and older daylight savings ended earlier and we rolled our clocks back before Halloween, which meant trick-or-treating for older kids who didn't need a chaperone started at night time. Much easier to cause havoc under the cover of night. Now a days kids start showing up at my door much earlier than I ever went trick-or-treating and its all over before it gets dark.

It’s not just the kids. The parents are terrible. The wife and I are going to take shifts this year with the kids. So one of us can stay at the house. The front porch and yard get ruined. Plus they empty the bowls within a couple mins. And like I said, it’s the parents ultimately at fault.

Halloween is fun for me regardless because it's my birthday. And I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't have the problem of Trick or Treaters 😆 Hell, I put a bucket of candy out at my work and the employees demolish it in 10 minutes......adults love candy too.
