I do think the A$AP brand holds him back, I mean I feel like if Carti was called "A$AP Carti" he would not be where he is today even though he is signed to AWGE. Most people these days only think there is one rapper called "A$AP" and that is Rocky. They don't know the Mob exists. Even though Ferg has two hit songs I think most people still don't really know him. The Mob might as well disband and throw away their monikers but I don't think they wanna disrespect Yams and most of Rocky's discography ages badly lyrically as well

@@MarinoSesh420 I never said Rocky's music is bad or that he is bad lyrically, what I said is that if Rocky dropped the "A$AP" name from his stage name, then the albums age poorly in terms of description and lyrics because it is centralised around being an A$AP mob member and endorsing the other members. For example, he has songs like "Long. Live. A$AP" and "A$AP Forever". His commitment to the mob lyrically is equivalent to tribalism, and so if he abandoned the A$AP mob, his old music lyrics wouldn't make sense. That being said, I do agree that Rocky's biggest weakness as an artist has always been his lyrics lacking substance, tho he can definitely spit and put out an amazing verse. I discovered that personally with New Choppa. If he can put out an album that tells out a cohesive story that has hits on it like Kendrick, he then enter GOAT conversations and it's not too late for him but I don't think he cares about rapping as much as people want him to. Given how much time he's delayed his next album I think it needs to be at least 8/10 quality with much better and more mature lyricism than his previous work, and I think his GQ interview indicated that. But hopefully when he means mature that doesn't mean boring. Also I personally thought Rocky's beats were not very good on Testing overall, though Buck Shots and Praise The Lord hit.
