Coding an NFT crypto collectible in 3 days (DAY 1)

I set out for a challenge. I wanted to learn how to code a non-fungible token ERC721 smart contract for the Ethereum virtual machine. And all of that in three days from scratch without any clue or prior knowledge. So the first thing is to learn what NFT crypto tokens are and how the whole Ethereum ecosystem with all of its decentralized apps or dApps and the whole web3 thing works.
This is day 1 and we will learn a lot and set up our development environment for the Ethereum blockchain to develop our first smart contract. For that, we will examine web3 JS, Truffle JS, and Ganache a personal local blockchain for your computer.

Its called a bash terminal and is originally a mac os and linux textual interface. If you are on windows you have cmd.exe or the PowerShell.

Hey. Thank you! The backend is serving the frontend. Behind port 8080 is the express js server, which on one route serves the token metadata and images and on the root / route the js web app. Cheers

No. You need to start visual studio code yourself and open the folder you ran truffle init in.

I use visual studio to write the code and a terminal (in my case iTerm2) to execute some commands. But the type of terminal is just a matter of taste and doesn’t really matter for the technical stuff.

Hello! I am not sure what you mean. The toke uri for one token must refer to a JSON file having all the information about the artwork in it. Which itself references the image to show. You can upload all of it to the IPFS using Pinata, but all of that needs a lot more words to explain, than would fit into a youtube comment answer. Its called a terminal. I use it on MacOS. But there is also cmd.exe on windows. If you have no prior knowledge please look up how to install Node.js and NPM for your operating system first.

Hey. I would solve that in a generator script. So if you want to generate 10k profile pictures from different images, I would check if the script has already created a pfp like this and if that is the case, try to create a new one until a unique one was created.

Hey. I use a mac os terminal as the command line and visual studio code to write the javascript and solidity code.

You basically use the script to generate the svgs and run it with random parameters. And save the output for every run to a svg file. Do that 1000 times. Done.

You need to pay gas to deploy your smart contract and for every interaction with it after that. Nothing other than reading is free on the blockchain.

If i list my 1 nft out of 2000 and pay gas fee for that first ( on opensea ). Then after that i have to pay gas fee for every nft or it will free to list. ( remember , its after listing the 1st one ). Can you please answer ????????? Please

Wait so that 100 ETH isn’t yours? And you can use that ETH to mint bulk NFTs to cover gas price? Also if ganache is connected to your account and you upload a minted NFT then you get your money would ganache take it our it would be yours? If that makes sense. Hey. No you cant transfer eth from one blockchain to another. The local blockchain on your computer with Ganache is a different blockchain, than the real one. It is not real ETH. It is just a testing environment.
