This movie is a masterpiece. I had the chance to visit Death Railways and Cemetery at Kanchanaburi, Thailand in 2010

My Grandfather fought in the Pacific and he had a persistent, visceral hatred for the Japanese during and after the war. Upon hearing some of his stories, I can understand why he could feel the way he did. Understanding why he hated the Japanese so much doesn't diminish the importance of forgiveness - even for the sort of evil, sadistic depravity that my Grandfather described; instead, it underlies how difficult it is to forgive in the way Jesus Christ forgives us. As one who has lived through a life broken by familial betrayal and abuse, I had harbored a lot of hatred for what I was forced to live though. I found Christ later in life and discovered that real forgiveness, when evoked in our broken human state, generally does more to heal the victim than than it does for those whom the victim forgives.

Just watching this commentary and scenes, I know I couldn't watch the movie...I applaude the creators, directors, producers, and of course all actors, and crew. As many comments state...this film should have gotten more exposure and recognition. It may not get here on earth, but in heaven....seats of honor...

I never cease to be amazed at how masses of people can be taught to believe almost anything. The Emperor and Japanese, Hitler and the Germans and even Trump and almost half of America. The power of words over brains.
