Nice video again My favourite Kielder video was the one you did nearer the lake Kielder walk and rant ! We are lucky to have all these forests so close by to where we live

I haven't been back to Kielder in a while now and in a couple of months time, the midgies will be out in force and unbearable. Thanks for your comment.

I absolutely loved this passionate astronomer make the trip from London a few times a year to visit this place. I am due back in a couple of months will keep an eye out for the Cheviot yeti 😊.

Pleased you enjoyed it, I'm lucky to live near some dark sky area's here in Northumberland. As a kid, I had a keen interest in astronomy and used to be fascinated with the night sky. I've seen 2 bolide meteors and Hailey's Comet, a once in a lifetime experience. Got a full frame camera with a fast 20mm F1. 4 lens and will be incorporating some landscape astrophotography in future videos.

Great vid. Loved the shots of the scenery, probably going to visit this forest and camp out one day. I love coniferous forests.

Cracking video! I was looking to stay a night at Kielder on my recent tour of the Uk, but didnt get round to it. You have definitely inspired me to look at doing a few nights there some time soon though! All the best!

Thanks, Kielder is a lovely place not too over crowded and its easy to find somewhere secluded for a wild camp or there is the camp site in Kielder village if you prefer that, there are restrictions on where you can light fires, so watch out for forest rangers and the midges can be a problem too.

Brilliant Damian. Great basic groundcamp setup. Kielder is amazing for wild camping and scenery / silence. Abt 10min drive from where u were there is a great campspot by a river. Wud ve great to bump into up that way one day. Hammock camping fab also. More comfy, only down side is a little more gear (abt 1lb). I found the "ultimate hang" book invaluable help.

Fantastic videos m8, you truly are the real number one wild camper lol. See you're from my neck of the woods aswell. We live in an amazing part of the country and i try and get out wild camping most weekends. keep up the good work.

I love Kielder, just hate the midges, its great exploring the coves and tributaries in a kayak, thanks for watching..

There are led lights around the hole which change colour to affect the viewers perception, these weren't switched on but it wasn't too dark while I was there. The Kielder night sky is excellent for sky watching and well worth a visit.

Bushcraft Adventures France Being a borderer, Scotland is close to my heart having family ties on both sides and even roots in Ireland so know these isles quite well. I consider myself a Northumbrian rather than English or British as I don't like being labeled and catagorised. Traditionally border familys held allegiance to each other and neighboring clans rather than to the KIng or governments in power. Thanks for your comment, atb, Damian

@Fell_Wanderer10 жыл бұрын
It freaked me out as a boy when I first saw it, although it inspired me to do a parody in later life, it was controversial at the time to show it here in the UK back in the day, maybe we aren't as prudish now as Mary Whitehouse has passed, but are our younger generation not getting more de-sensitised by increased exposure to sex and violence?. so Deliverance is timed by todays standards?.. thanks for your comment.

That observatory takes some beating. Makes me laugh. Director on £60,000 a year. What was it? £500,000 to build. £6,000 spent on the telescope. Now it's falling apart. Its closed 3/4 of the year due to cloud.

Is the lynx restoration going to happen in Kielder soon? I hope............
@Fell_Wanderer3 жыл бұрын
All I know is, a second bid to introduce lynx to Kielder forest is to be made, two years after it was rejected. Not sure if it will happen as some farmers think they will attack sheep instead of keeping down the deer population which is damaging young trees

@Fell_Wanderer7 жыл бұрын
There are no camp fires allowed in Kielder thats what I'm led to believe, the risk to the forest is too great.

Its a shame really over In switzerland and austria we have fire pits everywhere that you can use and they also have bbq pits

Do you ever inform the forestry commission you are going or do you just turn up and find a spot. I am planning a wild camp in a few weeks in kielder and wondered where best places to park cars are and what is the cost.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Kielder Water & Forest Park is now closed to the visiting public. In real is most safestplace in everywhere forrest not supermarket. In Great Britan everything what you not pay for it is illegal. No responsible open fire no matter you are in the very wet place or on the middle lake, no wild camping, no open tarp or tent, everything around is private, what is not private is national treasure. Why? Because you sold in private hands to much land! No pedals cycle, everyone who spoted you now on wild camp in Kiedler or open fire MUST call for police! Im feeling like living in prison! No trust for other people, special locals ciuchters because they are looking for you like for Adolph Hitler, you are comming there to steal all woods, red scroll's who is very dangerous for any birds and eggs, they are more important from humans who want teach kids how to survival in forrest. Your only one role is going to work, spend money in markets, pays bills and taxes then go to pubs and forget about yours poor existances. SHAME. No free man in UK.

There is a local resident near Elsdon in Northumberland who was asking walkers if they were of the area and reporting them if not, for travelling outside their local area. What that person doesn't realise, he or she is loosing their freedom also. The government can't give a clear interpretation on what exactly is travelling locally? so we risk getting fined when the rules aren't clearly defined, for exercising our right to the great outdoors, where the virus is very unlikely to infect us. We are allowed to be in an enclosed work place with increased risk of infection to keep the economy rolling and pay taxes to the government but travelling to the countryside is not allowed
