On the 10th of July 2016 the biggest lock in the world officially opened for the first time.
The car carrier 'Grande Lagos' was the first ship to sail thru the lock while the King and Queen of Belgium were also present !
The lock connects the 'Deurganckdok' to the docks on the left side of the River Scheldt.
Dimensions of the lock :
500m long
68m wide
18m deep
