For anyone sad about Kikagaku Moyo disbanding after this tour here are some other amazing Japanes guitar heavy acts. Les Rallizes Denudes may be the closed one.. Takeshi Terauchi - Tsugaru Jongara, Rashomon, Seichi Terauchi Bushi (traditional Tsugaru-jamisen but on the electric guitar, think Japanese surf rock but better, this man turned me on to all of the following acts) Masayoshi Takanaka - All of Me, T-Wave, Insatiable High and if you are up for it RAINBOW GOBLINS is an awesome ride that gets better as it goes, just buy in and accept the goofiness for that album, it's really an awesome ride. (Takanaka is an extremely ecstatic/moodlifting guitarist, he has many great albums with the same general vibe of living the high life, very fun stuff) Mobo 1 and 2 by Kazumi Watanabe. (Watanabe brings us more great guitar work, highly underated I've never really heard this guy mentioned anywhere, straightforward tracks Les Rallizes Denudes (heavy psych stuff, shrouded in mystery, from the underground post-war Tokyo musical generation; original bassist hijacked airline flight with a katana and spent rest of his life a in North Korean village) The genre/ musical style Tsugaru-jamisen may be of interest to the more adventurous as well. Find a cool looking album with that in the title and read some of the wikipedia page on it, interesting stuff. There are basic song structures that have been performed by tens of thousands of Japanese musicians for hundreds of years, in countless variations, so any albums of it that you hear are the result of all of that "collective conscience", if you catch my drift. Another entry point into an entire Japanese genre would be Kiyoshi Yamaya - Kumoso or Tsugaru. This is atmospheric but still heavily instrumental music, soothing, groovy, modern meets traditional styles.

Nice recommendations. I hadn't heard of any of these. I need a bit more time to really form an opinion of most of these, but Kiyoshi Yamaya clicked immediately. Really liking that one!

i wish someone had gotten a high quality version of the version of Trad they did in new york. ryu added in a simple sitar part toward the end, a simple change but one that made that performance feel pretty unique.

The guitar and eventual transition into the end of Yayoi Iyayoi is one of the best things i’ve heard in my life.

Today is the day of their final concert, and it's also the very day I discovered them. Quite unlucky, isn't it ? ^^' (still greatful tho)
