One of the most talented British artists of that era, now virtually unknown as regards the general media coverage of the 70s and early 80s, but she was really remarkable.

This song is AMAZING. I NEVER heard of her until I watched her and Elton John's youtube video "Don't go breaking my heart." I just had to see what else Kiki Dee sings and I'm NOT disappointed. :)

@kalmanizer I remember from hearing her on British Forces Broadcasting back in the day when we were stationed in Germany. I dug up her 1981 album in 1990. There were some other truly great songs on it. Including another, even more beautiful duet with Elton ("Loving you is sweeter that ever") I swear, you'd think that ol' Reg was straight when you hear him singing with her...

I still have a crush on her.❤️

BUSTY69 I remember being blown away by this number. I was sixteen in 1980. The family was stationed in West (Cold War and all that) Germany. I had missed her first duet with Elton John in '75. I was listening to BFBS-UK at the time (they had the best music) "Perfect Timing" was also a hit. But it never made it to America. I found the album in a used record store in 1989. Man! Her second duet with Elton was even better. This should have been her breakout! But I guess the record execs had already decided that she was too old at age 34 to bet on.

Strong reminiscence of "Video Killed the Radio Star" by Buggles. (Or, should I say the other way around?) No wonder "Video ..." appears in the list to the right. I prefer this because it rocks!

@kalmanizer Don't forget she was a 35 year-old grizzled veteran by this time. to see her as an innocent girl punch up "small town" from "Dateline Diamonds". Reading the lyrics, she must have had some experience with real-life gangsters like those in the movie.

Kiki is sheer class, and should have been a much bigger 'star' if she had been better managed and more picky over the material she was given. Every bit as talented and soulful as today's Adele but a lot better looking. Here's what she can really do with one of her own songs. watch?v=5fRSsxCAjn8

Oh Keek - yours is the story of so much wasted talent and mis-management: when you were first taken under the wing of John Reid and Rocket, it really looked as if you would make it big, but then John R buggered you around by nicking your band's drummer for Elton's band and Bias went a bit do- lally and was sent off to the States and suddenly what should have been your emergence as a major star was blown - listening to your fab voice and your cute, catchy songs still makes me wonder what might have been.
