Nothing "unnatural" about relaxing yoir hair, but people in America like to complicate stuff, when in reality there’s so many people ( like Hispanic women or even white ones ) who do use other kind of perms to make their hair super straight, why nobody talks about that? Just because they have lighter skin? So people assume that’s their "natural" hair. I’m Arab ( North African ) and most of people are Middle Eastern looking, with a hair type that goes from curly to kinky, and most of them use perms all the time to straighten it ( like a Keratin treatment that’s basically full of chemicals ). Why it is a problem only for Black women? If they relax their hair "Oh that’s unnatural". People can wear their hair however they want.

Thank for your comments. I have been natural for 8 years. I could never find a style that I actually felt comfortable with. I would go from weave to braids. I am allowing my beautiful gray hair to grow out and I want to be straight and silky with it. I enjoyed the natural hair journey, been there, done that, ready to move on… Again, thank you…

I feel what you're saying completely! I've been natural for 13 years now, but not by choice, but because of medical reasons. I experienced breakage, and I was diagnosed with yeast fungal scalp infection 13 years ago and treated with perscribed topical medications, and was told by my Dermatoligist, never to use relaxers again. But, I'm going to start back relaxers soon, Because I"m tired of wearing wigs and trying to find a natural hair styles that fit my face. I missed being relaxed and not having to struggle. I'm going to try the Phyto 2.
@kikicouture10 Жыл бұрын
The Phyto index 2 is very strong so if you don’t have super duper thick hair I wouldn’t recommend the 2, the index 1 will be more suitable. When I relax again I have to apply faster so I can have some more texture for added thickness.

OMG! I cannot believe I found your channel! You were one of the first KZbinrs I followed over 10 yrs ago when I was transitioning to natural! Now I’ve been relaxed for about 6 years. I loved my natural hair, even thought about going back but only if I had a good stylist that knows how to work with natural hair. I got tired of maintaining my natural hair so one day I broke down and decided to relax it. I like how I can see my length and just like you I stopped flat ironing my hair on wash day. I stretch 8-10 weeks because I have a lot of new growth. If I could go longer I would lol! Anyway you still look great and your hair is beautiful!

Wow, this comment made my day to know I still have loving subscribers who support me and my channel, I’m still on the fence about transitioning back to natural, currently I’m 6 months post relaxer. If I do decide to go back I will be a straight hair natural, not because I don’t love myself but because I like the ease of straight hair with the option to still maintain thickness and some texture. I’m going to talk about it very soon.

You explained exactly how I felt about my long natural hair that would swell, not curl, frizzy, tangled easy and not hood a style unless I had 7 year old little girl plaits and do do braids or a slick boring bun. I was natural till 28 and I was so unhappy and bullied. The day I showed up with bra strap thick glowing hair jaws dropped and my confidence shot up plus styling and washing was enjoyable and a breeze. Life is easy and 20 years later I’m still relaxed and I do it myself. I love protein lines like aphogee and porosity control conditioner by Roux. My hair now is waist length. I love my relaxer and the silky texture.

So I'm asking if I cant get this phyto relaxer which relaxer do you suggest ? I feel the same way about my hair how you feel peace and blessings you have beautiful hair. I wanna get back to transforming. I'm just afraid of the health scare with having relaxers.

@LadyP777 Good morning sis, I know your message isn't for me but I'm now 20 weeks post relaxer. I bought Affirm fibregaurd relaxer but couldn't get the other products to go with it. Have to shop around. I wasted my money, as I will be going natural now lol. The relaxer lawsuit put me off and got me thinking if my fibroid etc was due to relaxers. I have two boys but when I was pregnant there where concerns about it but everything went well thank God. My mum relaxed my hair since I was a teenager. I do have soft hair, but I can't take when it gets all knotted. I've been learning about my hair and taking notes. I do love relaxed hair and how easy it is for me to manage. I will still be watching my girl Kiki. I have learnt a lot from her channel.

Your hair is lovely and healthy looking. I was natural for 5 years and went back to a relaxer 2 years ago for some of the reasons you listed- loved my natural hair but at this stage of my life, I prefer spending less time on my hair and relaxed hair affords me more predictability when styling. Your comment about the protein treatments ‘reverting’ or increasing the texture in relaxed hair is so true! I do protein treatments every month or so and I’ve recently noticed so much texture in my hair. It’s been making it tangle easily and unmanageable. I suspected that the protein treatments were the culprit with my texture but it’s nice to hear someone else say it. Has anyone with this issue found a way around this?!
@copperwarrior Жыл бұрын
I am going through this now. My hair is very full and puffy. My theory is thick, course, or both kinda hair does not need as much protein as they claim. I am going to focus only on protein after relaxer and only do moisture until next relaxer unless it seems hair needs protein. I think the protein is hardening & matting up our new growth. It's making our reverted hair tangle with the straight hairs
@candiemoney2967 Жыл бұрын
Hello just stop the protein treatment for now and let it clear of ur hair strands abit. Then monitor ur hair texture. There will be months and season u will need the protein and there will be times u won’t. Just don’t follow the rules. Go with the flow of ur hair instead. Cuz same thing happened to me. My hair texture changed cuz of too much protein. Then I got a shampoo that started softening it out. And when it had worked I started using the protein treatment a few times to balance my hair. And I love my texture now it’s no longer hard to comb or tangling
@candiemoney2967 Жыл бұрын

Last year I see so many videos about the natural hair community because some black women thought it was wrong for other black women to put relaxers or perms in their hair, they would get offended if a black woman wanted to put a perm in her hair they said the black women should embrace their own natural hair, but now I am seeing so many videos of women using relax or perms on their hair because they feel comfortable and safe with it, and I'm so glad everyone is not following the natural hair community bandwagon and they are doing what they feel comfortable for their hair because anyone can put a perm or relaxer in their hair as long as they know how to take care of it it will not damage their hair 👏👏👏👏

But when I straighten it, like you said, just breathe on it and it looks like I got electrocuted. I've got 2 boxes of relaxer I'm contemplating. I got tired, too! I recently virgin relaxed my hair and oh my goodness. I am "a woman of a certain age" (old), and my hair is nearly to my waist. How did that happen?!? The thing is, I only wore my hair in a protective style. My old lady bun. I think sew-ins are, frankly, stupid. Why should I pay somebody a whole lot of money to braid my hair so they can sew in somebody else's dead hair on top of my own? I'm not a wig person, a weave person, and I haven't worn braids in over 20 years. Now I can air dry without having to worry about how am I going to get rid of the tangles afterward. If I bring out my dryer it takes 10 to 15 minutes instead of 45 minutes to an hour. I don't have to use my flat iron if I don't want to, and it looks better in its protective style. I live in the desert, so humidity is not too much of a problem. However, there's the swimming pool. I want to swim this summer whenever I want. I have a swim cap, which means I am not going to worry about my hair at all!
