Fabulous. Had the privilege to see this concert in Brussels. First row. They played in a cinema, so no stage. They where just playing there at a couple of meters. What a blessing 😍 That was just incredible. 🙏🙏🙏.

@@Angelo_Botta That's what I thought. I saw them in Fabrik. As much as it is nice to have this video it always meant you wouldn't see much in front of the stage when NDR was there. So then I was a little annoyed but now a appreciate the farsightedness of the responsible guys in NDR. Also, the fun thing was that the bass was played by the feet of Joey (who died this year, R.I.P.) on the Hammond!

Although I WOULD ADD that -- in his COMPLETELY different style, Pat Metheny, at speed, CAN give the brilliant McLaughlin a run for his money. (Cf Metheny playing with John Scofield -- and the amazingly talented Bill Brewer on drums -- the studio (video'd) version of EVERYBODY'S PARTY: it's WAY out into interstellar space!!

I think Dennis Chambers is a better compliment to McLaughlin's playing than Elvin Jones. They're from the same time period in music history so Dennis Chambers has a little more of that modern sound that McLaughlin really needs behind him.

I saw Elvin Jones playing live (Jazz Jamboree, late 60-s or early 70-s in Warsaw). As good as he was perceived to be at that time, he showed more circus tricks and extravagant fashion, than the real, honest jazz drumming. I watched many videos with Denis on drums and I cannot recall a single one where he was faking. If anyone gives 100% every single time, that would be Dennis Chambers, hands down...
