0:25 the interaction of the helicopter's shadow going from the rim to the crater floor and back, really help put the scale of the lake into perspective.

Given the distance to the floor, that shadow is probably at most half the size it was at the rim. Shadows will shrink the further they are from the object since light has more time to bend around it. Still HUGE nonetheless.

Yep. When I first heard the lava lake island described as 7 acres, I was surprised. I thought it looked to be maybe the size of an American football field. After noticing the helo's shadow I can see the island is indeed serval acres in size.

No politics, so why imperial system? We all know metric is easier for calculations!
@aSinisterKiid
@aSinisterKiid 3 жыл бұрын
@@micixduda Because in america we use imperial. It's that simple. For any american who has been using imperial for their entire life, it is not easier to suddenly switch over to metric. Every nut and bolt in our stores, every ruler, every tape measure, every tool etc etc is all in imperial. So we would literally have to swim against the current to suddenly start using metric. It's just not second nature when we have been using imperial for our entire lives. It's the exact same thing as saying to you, just use imperial it's easier for calculations. Because for us, it is easier. So why don't you change and use imperial instead of trying to make other people conform to your wishes? I don't mean any disrespect I am just making a point.

Does anyone know how they determine the depth of a lake of lava? Serious question. I assume it didn’t start off bone dry, or it would be easy to tell the depth of the lava. I also assume that they must therefore apply some mathematical model and don’t actually put a big dipstick (and I can think of a few!) down into the lava until he/she/they/it touches bottom. Or do they have sonar-like equivalents for lava that can take such measurements? Aside from practical measuring issues, doesn’t the bottom keep melting and reforming, making the depth a constantly changing variable? To a statistically significant degree? Or do they just ‘ballpark’ the whole thing because precision isn’t practically achievable or necessary? I’m obviously not a volcanologist, just curious about random things in yt videos and thought I’d ask. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Do not bow down to false gods nor worship them 4. Do not serve Satan, to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, ye are that one's slaves. We are no longer to be slaves to sin, but slaves to God. 5. Thus you shall deal with them, you shall destroy their altars...no pagan altars of human sacrifices, only holy righteous altars that are of Christ.
