Kilkeel Harbour Major Incident

A major incident was declared in Kilkeel, Co Down on Monday, July 16 2018, following the suspected release of ammonia gas from Young's fish processing factory in the harbour area of the Mourne town.
Workers at the neighbouring Rooney's fish plant were affected and several ambulances were at the scene to transport those thought to be at risk to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.
Paramedics were also joined at the scene by personnel from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, PSNI and the Air Ambulance.
