The reason is pro baseball was established quite early so when irish immigrants came to america they played hurling,but there kids began playing baseball,because of the lore of professionalism.The game stayed in irish communities and did not leave it mostly for that reason

even the same today. waterford played the best game of hurling in years kk didnt hurl that well.. they still get a draw and lucky to get it. but ya only get 1 chance to bury kk. waterford got that chance. never done it. kk are never beaten. that from a tipp man
