In today's video, I teach you how to kill powdery mildew with this natural garden remedy: hydrogen peroxide. This is a completely natural remedy that can kill garden diseases and fungal infections and is great for disease prevention, too.
Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a garden disease control agent to treat squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and other disease prone plants. I use hydrogen peroxide for plants to control diseases on my tomatoes all summer long, too! It's a key ingredient in my natural remedies as a garden fungicide.
If you have questions about how to use hydrogen peroxide in your garden for garden disease control, are interested in other garden remedies, want to know about the things I grow in my garden, are looking for more gardening tips and tricks and "garden hacks" like this, have questions about vegetable gardening and organic gardening in general, or want to share some DIY and "how to" garden tips and gardening hacks of your own, please ask in the Comments below!

Hey neighbor! Thanks for sharing this. I found this out just by testing different things and want to share this: non-diluted 3% Hydrogen Peroxide is an excellent weed killer. I sprayed the top of our septic tank and all the grass and weeds died on it by the next day. I did not overly saturate it either. It is a better alternative to poisonous Roundup or other poisonous herbicides. A few months later the grass has already covered it again.

There are many uses for peroxide beyond medical uses. It's a great anti-fungal. Yes, it will kill weeds, too (so will white vinegar - another natural weed killer). It's also an excellent vomit-inducer. We had an incident where Dale ate an old onion in the compost pile. If you take a turkey baster, you can shoot a little hydrogen peroxide into the throat and they'll vomit within 60 seconds. It can be a lifesaver for pets if they get into something. The good thing about peroxide is it quickly disassociates into water and oxygen gas, so it leaves no residues. It's a great color-safe stain-fighter, too. I have used baking soda and peroxide to get stains out of clothes.

I've been using 16 Tablespoons to a Gallon, and it seems to work a little better for me... I might actually try working it up even further, as my current results at 16 are not quite satisfactory either... Just wonder what will happen once I hit that Max Peak the plants can tolerate?? I think I'm going to use a few plants as experiments and try hitting them with Strait 3% Peroxide and see what that does as well... 🥰🥰

I wouldn't lie to you 😀 The best part is, it works even better as a preventative. You can spray this 1-2 times a week to ensure the plants never get a significant infection, and since it's basically just water in the end, you can spray it without having to worry about bad stuff accumulating in your soil overtime.

Hydrogen peroxide is an *excellent* preventative. When our rainy season starts, I spray 1-2 times a week at this concentration with my ULV fogger. It definitely helps extend their lives about another month or so. Eventually, the rains can get so bad that they succumb, but this year, my two original cherry tomatoes are still alive and producing that were planted in March! Now's probably the time for your garden to come alive with your much more pleasant and drier weather.

Powdery mildew becomes more of a problem in cool, damp nights in fall, so I’m not surprised. It wasn’t an issue for me in the summer when it was hot, but I guess the UV index has fallen enough that it is no longer sterilizing the leaves. Let us know if you have success with the spray! Dale says hi.

I can relate. While my conditions aren't exactly like yours, the summers here are just too hot and wet, so we have to garden mostly in the shoulder seasons. July and August simply kills all the annuals except for the sweet potatoes and peppers...but even the peppers get stressed out. Hydrogen peroxide makes the spring plantings last longer, for sure.

I've learned that as well. I didn't realize how much easier gardening is in PA and NJ 😂 The biggest reason why I moved down here was the longer growing season, but it came with so many more challenges to get those extra 2 months of growing.

I haven't tried it. Baking soda is very alkaline and salty, and I don't like the idea of so much salt and high pH running off into my soil. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water rapidly, so it's a very clean product.

Ok, I see the powdery mildew spots on the leaves. I sprayed with the hydrogen peroxide solution in the ratio as recommended. Now, why is it NOBODY ever show what it looks like when you spray the powdery mildew AND NOBODY ever show what we expect to see the next day or 2 or 3, etc.? Why? because a picture is worth a thousand word and because I like to know what it looks like when it's working! As far as I can tell, the next day i still see the white spots!
