People under estimate the value of band, chorus, and the arts. These kids look like they are absolutely enjoying life and sets the stage for higher expectations in college or wherever their future takes them. I’m so thankful my mother had all of that in my life

I don’t think anyone knows how difficult it is to be a drum major. You’re pretty much carrying the whole team, you need to have great musicality, keeping your stamina throughout and remember each choreography. Keep in mind they do this for hours. I appreciate there hard work 👏👏👏👏

yes. Marching Band alumni here. I was a colorguard and played the xylophone and cymbals occassionally and my bf played the bass drum and many other instruments. The amoint of time energy and commitment that goes into. The physicality of it all.

@@janetsbff5974 Ijs. Went to school with a lot of white ppl who "loved" our culture, braids,rap,etc back in the 90s. Now they are regular white ppl with a "wild past". They usually settle back down to what'$ comfortable for them. In my experience that's what I've seen. Only a few of my down white girlfriends stayed within our community after the "fun" wore off. College is only 4yrs🤷🏽♀️

Their talents of instruments & dance are ignored because HE became the exception to something normal for us. How many black band leaders are marching 1st at HARVARD or PRINCETON? BUT WE proudly LET someone else infiltrate and "lead" us because we accept literally anything. So yay him he was blessed with rhythm?😳🤷🏽♀️ I just can't see a BLACK band leader at a prestigious mostly white school getting all the press & accolades if roles were reversed.

I LOVE this SOUND!! These kids were in New Orleans on Mardi Gras Day 2020. They marched in Rex that morning. They carried their big bad sound all the way down St. Charles Avenue to the French Quarter! Absolutely incredible! They had fun and I sure had a blast watchIng them do what they love! New Orleans loves, y’all. This year’s Mardi Gras was cancelled - but 2022 is gonna be lit! Come down down for Mardi Gras again!! ✨💜💛💚⚜️🎺✨
