They all were in the initial line up all along I saw in a live feed of another video on the day of the parade before it began, but when the parade actually started, they weren't in front of the band. I'm thinking some had issues with their uniforms they wore during the parade and had to get them taken care of and didn't get back with the band before the parade started. In various clips during the parade, you will see their coach Mrs. Crowley assisting various girls with their uniforms, even Captain Kayla.

There is a clip of JSU lining up as Talladega band was warming up. The J-Settes were lined up in front of the band at that time, but then the band turned and faced Talladega to blow a song at them. When it was time to get back into parade formation and the parade began, I'm not sure where the J-Settes were at this point but they were somewhere close. Where ever they were when the parade started, if you are not in formation when it's time to start, the show must go on. That's usually how most of the bands operate.

Just to let you know I enjoyed this. My own family rivalry is I have a cousin at Howard right now. I was supposed to go to Bethune Cookman but I went in the Navy. You know my family still treats me like I went anyway because I ended up in FL anyway! 😂😂😂😂 Then I have a brother that's an NC A&T grad twice over. The other brother is WSSU. That is Winston Salem State university, Red Sea of Sound. Can you imagine battle of the bands at my house? Oh the best part the director at the time for my last brother who went to WSSU is an alumni of where? You guessed it! Jackson State! Sonic Boom. Who was half dead in the corner hearing the stories about his truck breaking down in the snow and him walking to class up hill both ways ! Me and my brother! 😳😭 Does it even snow there? I didn't think y'all had hills in Mississippi??? Missing the point right? We love Doc tho and the growing rivalry of the best band. 😁
@vecarter5694 жыл бұрын
It can snow in Mississippi especially in January or February depending on if it has been consistently cold for a couple of days & if rain has forced the cold to linger on. However, it usually melts the same day. One year in my teens, snow lasted 3 days and I could actually make a decent snowman. 😄 Mississippi has a very wet Winter which can produce freezing rain more often than snow. It can be easy to become sick because you can experience "winter", "fall", and "spring" all in the same week! When I visit at Christmas, I have to pack clothes for such weather extremes. 3 years ago, it was 80 degrees in Christmas Day and we ate dinner outside. A year later, it was 30 degrees in that holiday. As far as hills, depends on what part of the Mississippi you are located - if you have long sloping hills, flat Delta terrain, or have a large body of water near you. One consistent thing is lots & lots of trees.
@queenslyric8004 жыл бұрын
@@vecarter569 that is so awesome. At least there are multiple seasons there. I lived in Florida for 17 years. Jacksonville has February, Summer, Hurricane and Fire Season with a chance of love bugs. 😆 I missed home so badly when I finally got back to NC my body said welcome back to four seasons. Then I thought I actually have to buy fall and winter clothes and a winter coat! I haven't needed a real coat in nearly 2 decades. 😳 My second year back it snowed on Palm Sunday. The following Sunday folks were wearing trench coats gloves Easter dresses and sandals, sweaters, hats and carrying umbrellas because both them and the weather were confused. The day it started snowing the week before it had been 80 degrees and sun shining and snowing the next day! Welcome to the foothills of NC. 😆

@vecarter569 Жыл бұрын
Some Captains get 2 years as that position. Some drum majors get a couple of years at that position. It just depends on their success in that position throughout the present school year...and if they want to continue in those positions the next year. JSettes (dancers) have cuts every week...so only the best get to perform each week for games or events.
