Why many of you so negative regarding these young people. They should be lift up with positivity instead of being put down. I'm proud of them as you all should be. These young people work hard in school and doing what they love with this band. If you don't like what they do, then you should do something to help them become better than talking. These students most likely read your comments.

GSU Marching Band will always be my first love in regards to HBCU bands. I grew up in a small (predominantly white) TX town. Went to a parade in Dallas, TX (can't remember the reason for the parade). They stopped to perform where I was standing. Talk about amazed! I was blown away! Dancing and playing music at the same time !?!?! What?!?!? I wanted to follow them for the remainder of the parade. Mom wasn't having it, though. LOL! Up until that point, I had never seen a marching band perform like that! This was over 25 years ago....but a memory I'll never forget! Thanks for the memories!!!

That cadence has been updated. My Jr High (and later high school) band director was Malcolm Spencer. He was a graduate of GSU and back in the late 70s, early 80s this was our cadence. I remember that four and eight count and the little dip on the eight. Memories.
