We heard wolves howling every night we camped on OSA Lake the weekend of the fire. They howled at sunset, dark, moon rise, moonset, and dawn like clockwork. Very eerie especially because it was a big pretty full moon. 🐺

Very cool. Love the sound of wolves.

Killarney is a wilderness park - so in this case it means that all campsite and portage signs are significantly smaller unlike the obnoxiously large ones in Algonquin and other places haha. It helps keeps the setting more natural and such. Really tests your map skills when on lakes you’ve never been on before!

Smaller and hidden. The one for the portage trail to the Crack was on a log behind long grass.

@@TwoMenandaCanoe haha yeah that tree was up at one point, it used to be leaning and now it’s on the ground in the grass. It adds more of an adventure to canoe tripping rather than being able to see a portage or campsite from across the lake. Using a map helps too, I personally love the small signs. Lol

You really are forced to use the map and compass. It tests people who have no sense of direction.

Glad you got back out there! The Crack is a gem. Totally worth the effort, plus you got the colours. Too bad about all the rain, but sometimes that's just how it goes.

It may suck a little in the moment to have rain but it is still amazing just to be out there.

Your canoe is super expensive and light . Perhaps 30 lbs. you should be able to do a portage in one trip. Thanks great job I really enjoy your channel. 🇨🇦👍

That canoe is 38lbs. Not too heavy. Depends how much stuff I have in my pack.

@@TwoMenandaCanoe I always have a small pair of water proof binoculars handy . It saves you a lot of paddling. I love my Tasco glasses. Great for spotting animals and portage signs and people in trouble. FYI cheers 🇨🇦👍

@@tombeckett4340 good idea. Although I don’t think it would have helped us find the portage to the Crack. We were right in front of it and couldn’t see it, lol.

Love all your videos! Thank you for sharing! I was wondering what campsite you stayed at here? Tim said the first one you came to, but could you share the site number (from the current booking system or the old Jeff's map)? I didn't think any of those first few after the portage had a view of the granite cliffs. Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks. Happy you like watching them. I believe that is site 20. It is the first site you come to on Killarney Lake after the portage from Freeland. It’s right across from the portage to Kakakise Lake. Hope that helps.

Haha how are both of you guys buds, y'all can't agree on poncho vs rain jacket. It's probably the reason why I solo camp more than any. My one friend was trying to convince me that a wedge steel wood splitter would (10 pounds) be ok on/in his pack😂🤣😂🤣. I told him I'm not even bringing an axe.

Lol. I do also like solo camping. Anything heavy on someone else's back is fine with me.

that was cool when you showed some other sites in Killarney lake...showed the one i had camped on in the early 70's a couple of times. is the trail to the Crack longer or shorter going from Killarney lake? For us...The climb is ok..it is coming down that is the hardest....On the knees. btw...what was Tim doing in that one shot LOL
@TwoMenandaCanoe
@TwoMenandaCanoe 4 жыл бұрын
I think it is shorter from the portage trail. Love the climb. Don't mind coming down. Tim? When you gotta go, you gotta go.
