Best piece of advice imo: DON'T be scared to go alone! Nobody will be looking at you or paying attention to you, and you will see plenty of others by themselves. You will NEVER regret going to a show alone, but you will regret not seeing your favorite band because your friends aren't into the music. Honestly I usually enjoy concerts alone more so I can totally be myself and not worry what my non metalhead friends think.

Yesss! The only Metalhead friend I have in my area, had a kid now and can’t come out much. So I went alone to a bunch of concerts. I ended up meeting a sweet & HOT guy. He became my metal concert and sexy time buddy. We were involved for a year and it was SOOO fun. He would of never came up to me if I wasn’t alone. Also, bartenders and bouncers can get super protective of a single, metal-chic. So just let them know and they got your back.

@musickf3 жыл бұрын
@@J0rgeFrancisco Yes, they are quite effective. I never go to a show without one, be it an indoor or outdoor venue. I usually go with the wax kind that are disposable. You can get them at any CVS/Walgreens and come in a clear plastic box thing.

@@J0rgeFrancisco I have Eargasms and yes, they make the show sound better. Foam ones for me ruin the highs, but Eargasms lets me hear everything perfectly while blocking out the crowd and "fixing" some of the awful production (Too much bass, too much highs). I remember my first time getting pit tickets at a metal show. My legs started giving me issues and I accidentally bumped into a guy who understandably got upset. Some of the other fans broke us up. Then they showed me a safe area to stand and made sure me and the other guy didn't accidentally cross paths again. I was surprised how much order the pit has considering how violent it looks from the outside.

I went to my first slayer show and it was amazing. The only thing that pissed me off was the drunk asshole who was throwing the people into the pit by force. He was grabbing anyone along the wall of the pit, (which yes I wanted to stand next to because I wanted to join in the pit during raining blood and angel of death) and he looked at me and grabbed me by my vest. I was also bringing my friend with me for his first slayer show, he said he would go in during slayer when he felt ready. The guy throw us both in which pissed me off but that also hurt my friend, he has a bad knee which just got dislocated and set back a few days before the show but because he was thrown in it caused him bad pain. Moral of the story, don’t be the douche throwing everyone in if the look like they want to watch the show. Tl;Dr. Mr. small bald and drunk throw the wrong people into a mass of running peeps. Side note, he fell during the break before payback started and Tom was in the middle of saying “paybacks a bitch, motherfucker”. We found it amusing

My first show was about a week or two ago at Pain In the Grass 2018. Then, when Slayer started I had everything I could ever want, my friend and Slayer, going in the pit was fun even though I fell a few times and it was near pitch black (we were up on the lawn making our own pit). Halfway through the set the guy standing next to us decided to piss into the trash can that we were right next to. It wasn't till the end of the set that we learned he actually worked there. Needless to say that it was absolutely amazing and fun and I don't regret a thing (aside from arriving late, but as it turns out my friend also missed Napalm Death, so I feel a bit better about not being the only one).

Earplugs at a show, actually kinda varies per venue. Every outdoor show I've been to, not too loud. Slayer outside, not bad, 6 months later at HOB, ears rang for 2 days. Same as arenas. Second row at Judas Priest at Rocket Morgage Feild House, just fine. Four people from the stage barricade at Metallica (same arena) full frequency experience, no discomfort or ringing. BUT small clips can make a huge difference. Some will have the PA on the floor right in your face. - Peabody's did this - and that can be bad if you want to be close to the stage. For example in my experience, CKY at Peabody's, ringing for at leas one day. Havok at the Cleveland Odeon, prolonged ringing. But Corrosion Of Conformity and Crowbar at The Beachland Ballroom, ringing for 2 days, 3 to 4 days for hearing to return to normal. So bring the plugs with you and if it's too much, put em in. If you feel fine, play at your own risk.

At our local venue, you can't get near the stage but we used to crowd surf. We'd get a buddy to give you a boost, then just try to touch the heads of as many people as possible on your way up so they know you're up there and they'll use their hands to keep you up. I used to do it all the time when I was 19 but alas, I'm older and fatter now so my crowd surfing days are over. The lighter you are the longer you stay up.

My first show I managed to see half a Metallica show by sneaking in under security's nose... And being in the latter half that they playing the 80s songs I even saved myself their more recent shit... It was fucking amazing

My first show was kind of recently back in April, Chaos and Carnage 2023 at an indoor venue, it was a fucking great experience. Slay Squad, Crown Magnatar, Sanguisugabogg, Aborted, Born of Osiris, Dying Fetus and Suicide Silence all performed great sets I will always remember that first show and can’t wait to go to my next!

I saw Enter Shikari back in 2019, and after the show I got to talk to Rou for a bit. He was really cool, and then asked if I wanted a picture, so I was like "hell yeah". My brother and I got the picture, and as we walked away, I turned around and saw a huge line form and he ended up taking pictures with the whole line. I still feel super bad about it, because even if the interaction was great and he seemed to enjoy the interaction, I'm pretty sure his plan post show was not to take pictures with the venue. Luckily it was a more intimate show of about 250-300 people, but I still kick myself in the nuts for it to this day.

1977 U F O opening for Aerosmith 13 years old Michael Shenker was so badass. The next week Thin Lizzy opening for Nazareth then the next week The Babys opening for Foreigner that was a great month.

Also having a good pair of insoles with arch support in your shoes is a good idea. Even if you're not moshing, standing for 4-6 hours straight can be exhausting. Great video Tony! Grind on!

My first metal show in the late 80's... Stryper with the opening act, Barron Cross! I stood about three feet away from the stack of speakers by the stage. It's a miracle I can still hear fairly well. Past couple decades I've always worn ear protection. First metal show with a mosh pit... Metallica in 1991. I was in the middle when the guys started "dancing" and hurridly ran up to the stands. Oh, seating was general admission back in the day. You wanted front row seats you got there hours before the doors opened. I miss the good ol' days!!

Thanks for the advice! Going to my first metal concert tomorrow. The headliner is Anthrax with Exodus and Black Label Society as the opening act. Should be kickass.

The reason I didn't went to Greece to see Scorpions because I didn't have ear plugs which that doesn't connects on smartphones. And that's how explains that I have good hearing. Does the hands free work on metal shows when I don't have ear plugs just like these you have?

My very first metal show was at the Sherman theater in my home town. Were I got to see Anthrax havoc and killswitch engage with jessie leach Live and in front row. I'm in a weelchair but I still had a grate time crowd surfing and stage diving did happen. And I love every minute of it name of the tour was called the killtrax tour. It was awsome metal for ever

About meeting and talking to band members off stage. Just remember that they are people too. Some of them are the type that can start and have an entertaining conversation about anything, anywhere and with anyone, but some of them can be very awkward and shy too and do not know what to say when someone comes to talk to them all of a sudden. So don't be offended if they are the latter type.

I have been a fan of metal my entire life but have never been to a concert. I am in my 30s now and plan on taking my 14 year old son to an upcoming Mastodon / Gojira show. I wish I had more experience to guide him through this but I think we will be okay. Definitely a little nervous though. Appreciate videos like this.

My first was Immolation this year. And I was unfortunetly youngest there was most 40+ guys xD And one support band(it was probably monument of misanthropy but I'm not sure) played Pull the Plug. I started screaming with them. It was funny - 40 yo guys everywere and 14 yo girl screams Pull the plug :'D
