I much prefer you with curly hair. My two exes were troubled by their 'real' hair too, seems not to just be an African problem. Always prefered the curls, because that's the twist of it. :D

Coming back to this video now years later, not my first rewatch but it makes sense. The entertaining bits here and there really do make it re-watch worthy! I'm seeing Nile next week in Sweden in the same week as I'm seeing Cannibal Corpse, so that's two bucket list tier bands I'll be knocking off in such a short time span and boy am I excited.

All the Relapse LPs are the CDs pressed to vinyl and offer no aural advantage over their CD counterparts; in fact, they are worse because they suffer from tracking distortion due to the ear-piercing EQ and compression that Nile likes. The Sethu vinyl supposedly has a "special vinyl mastering" but the difference isn't exactly earth shattering. These are purely object fetishism cash-in.
@KillbotAndGorGorAttack9 жыл бұрын
+HabAnagarek The Sethu one isn't earth-shattering, but for the NB ones there's more of a difference there... Now, Relapse did say in some emails that the albums were mastered for vinyl, and upon comparing Annihilations vinyl rip and iTunes download, I noticed a difference from the iTunes one being compressed and clipping way more. I've heard people say that the original presses didn't sound too different from the CD. I believe Relapse when they say they're mastered for vinyl, but it looks like you're not the only one noticing the "distortion" going on from the bits of feedback I've read over it.
@HabAnagarek9 жыл бұрын
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! Shoot, wait, I'm going on the original pressings I used to have of the Relapses. I recorded them, level-matched (be sure to do this when making comparisons) and compared to the CDs. I heard no differences at all (except for noise and distortion on the LPs) and now I have only the CDs (except Black Seeds, bought from Pete Hammoura on Ebay). I figured the 2nd pressings were just that, re-presses. To be honest I'm suspicious of language like "mastered for vinyl" because it still doesn't tell us anything. Mastered from what? So often the case since the 90s it's the CD master, then the cutting engineer compensates for volume, etc. so it's still "mastered for vinyl". As for Those Whom the Gods Detest, the audio on my pressing, anyway (the one with bonus tracks) had the same EQ and nuked dynamic range compression as the CD...sorry to go on and on.
@KillbotAndGorGorAttack9 жыл бұрын
+HabAnagarek I understand, Earache was highly guilty of it for the mid-2000s until they did those FDR releases. Maybe these were pressed from the 24-bit WAVs? I mean these were recorded in the 2000s. There's nothing I HATE more than a record sourced from a CD, defeats the purpose and sounds like crap in the end. Low quality source on high quality medium. It's bad because you have to be careful what records you buy now, you have to do research. I just HATE doing that... There were 2 editions of Gods Detest, I didn't get the one with the CD but I'm hearing a difference.
@HabAnagarek9 жыл бұрын
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! It would be nice to know; accurate and honest info is very hard to come by. As for Nuclear Blast, I remember Sethu's marketing (and Carcass S. Steel) clearly stated "special vinyl mastering", but almost zero others had that. (The Carcass is very good; not a revelatory difference, but to my ears I hear less dynamic range compression) I love the FDR releases, by the way, vinyl FLAC or CD, they are great, and the vinyl excellent pressings, e.g.Covenant and Heartwork. It's not an issue for me if something is sourced from CD (i.e., 16-bit) necessarily, but if it's sourced from the same master as that used as the CD. I figure if the vinyl release isn't going to be audiophile level (e.g. more dynamic range than wide release), why bother..
@KillbotAndGorGorAttack9 жыл бұрын
+HabAnagarek For me it's about the sample rates. 96 kHZ sounds more full and pure, and vinyl has that capacity compared to a CD's 44.1 kHZ. Technical stuff, sometimes I can see the difference in audacity more than I can hear it with human ears. Haven't had a problem with NB's stuff yet, the most impressed I was so far was Suffocation's "Blood Oath". So much punchier somehow >:D
