I just noticed that I have screen text saying “were” instead of “where”. 🙄😭 Please be understanding in these dark times as I consider changing the channel name to “Illiterally books.” (I’m not even sure that is a word which is fitting)

I didn't think I was afraid of killer whales but maybe I am... I'd love to pick this one up 👀I'm a big fan of Jaws & that cover is awesome

The cover is absolutely the reason I picked this book at first. It turned out to be a great read too. Bonus!

Would be neat to be made into a movie, but The day of the dolphin is similar to this. I'm going to get this book and read it at work

The cover is amazing and will certainly attract attention. 😆 Ridiculous side note: I like to imagine another reality where Tonkin writes a sequel to Killer. In this sequel a government trained orca lives in hiding regretting his sinful past until suddenly it breaks in to interrupt his tranquil retirment ala Vigo Mortensen in "A History of Violence". Fingers crossed.

I just got this looking forward to this!

It was genuinely surprising how good it was.

A government-trained killer whale breaks loose? Omigosh, that does sound like fun XD It's too bad these books are hard to come by without straigh-up buying them, otherwise this would make a great library read! Although I seem to recall Valancourt would sometimes do promotions where you could download audiobooks of their reprints for free, so maybe if I see something like that again I'll snap this up. Thanks for the review of this relatively obscure old horror novel!

Thank you. Such a entertaining read. Your local library might be willing to buy it for you, I know ours will, or…. well send me a message (I finally updated my channel description with links to my channel email and my other accounts 🙄). 😁

@@literallybooks My library's philosophy seems to be that if a book is too niche, it's not worth getting, lol. But horror is definitely popular, so maybe it's worth a try requesting a purchase even for a lesser-known novel! :D
@literallybooks10 ай бұрын
Aww, bummer. Well hey if you’re interested I could send you a copy (or try to) with no obligations, expectations, or weird “I scratch your back…” energy. I’ll just send you the book and you can read it whenever the mood strikes you. The end. 🙂

@@literallybooks Wow, that's a very generous offer! But I think I'll just try getting my library to order a copy and seeing what happens with it. I'll let you know when I hear back from them. Maybe we could do a book trade because I actually happen to own an original hardcover copy of The Auctioneer that you might appreciate more than I did, haha

@@Deep_in_the_Reads I like your suggestion so much better than mine. I only own one physical book from "Paperbacks" but there's this very silly story attached to it, so I need to reread it first... HOWEVER, one of my favorite horror reads is "Garth Marengh'is Terrortome" (I just realized his name is part of the title 😆) and if you haven't read it I think you need to. The horror equivalent to "Hitchhikers guide..." is the hot take. You can watch Garth Marenghi's Darkplace to get an idea of the kind of humor. The first episode is probably on KZbin. I did a video on Terrortome a few months back (the one with an orange thumbnail) if you are curious. It is so funny and the sequel was released only a few days ago.
