Fuzzywolfe I'm with Fuzzywolfe. Hisako is an onryo, an angry spirit filled with hatred and revenge that moves in an erratic and distorted behavior. Hisako died protecting her village as it was pillaged and burned to the ground. So of course the only thing that's going to be on her fractured mind would be blood and vengeance

Something worth mentioning too. Hisako wasnt a warrior. She holds the naginata like a shamisen. She was probably a musician or an artist of some form.

The official backstory for her in the Definitive Edition app is that she was a farmer, but she aspired to follow in the footsteps of her ronin father and did receive proper training in use of the naginata and daikatana from him. She probably wasn't on the level of an actual soldier, but she was competent enough that her death was from wounds recieved while near-singlehandedly routing a bandit attack on her village. Her odd handling of the naginata seems to be more her "freaky spirit in a berserk rage" state superceding her form, since as Shin Hisako (where she's got the "berserk rage" part out of her system and is acting more closely to how she was in life) she wields her daikatana much more like a trained warrior.

Hisako is so much better that Kayako and Sadako. She has an honor code, she only wishes to use her vengeful spirit powers to fight against those who killed her family and village. She doesn't bring innocents into it for no reason. It's neat to see a vengeful spirit wielding high level dark powers for the sake of good. She'd annihilate both Sadako and Kayako in a straight up ghostly battle. This theme is amazing!

+Brandon Tam I got mega freaked out when I heard it the first time, too. What amazing atmosphere... The theme sounds so innocent, but there's tears and blood staining its purity. Very eerie and dark, which is deceiving given the sound. In other words, it's incredibly well done by Mick Gordon.
