Such a dope song, but I gotta enlighten you. When he says “the devil on my shoulder was an elder I would shot for, I’d shot a little Z (ounce) and he would pressure me to shot more” he’s talking about selling weed to pay rent and survive, and how he had older influences pressuring him to keep doing it. Loved the vid man, would like to see a reaction to Coops - Factory Reared, such an underrated U.K. rapper!!!

When he says "the devil on my shoulder was an older I would shot for, shot a z and he'd pressure me to shot more" shotting is slang for selling drugs in the UK. Basically it means his plug was pressuring him to sell more and he had no choice but to do it to survive

9:46 "The devil on my shoulder is an elder I would shot for // I'd shot a little z and he would pressure me to shot more " Aka the devil on his shoulder was a literal elder / OG dealer that Ocean would 'shot for' (sell drugs for). He sold a couple "Z's" a.ka ounces and was pressured to 'shot more'

Older in British slang means like an older member of a gang usually telling a younger (or him in this situation) to sell more drugs or stab someone

thanks for listening to this and processing it with us. I am reading into childhood trauma at the moment and how it affect our mental and physical health in the long run. I am reading Gabor Mate's book 'In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction" it is really mind blowing. Anyone who experienced any sort of childhood difficulties whether it be trauma or just parental neglect, definitely check it out. I think I am on the healing path now, and all I can say the key is to learn to love yourself the way you are.. Realize the addiction/rage/depression any sort of poisonous habit or thing you do started out as a defense mechanism in childhood. but now they are hurting you. Don/t fight them. Accept them, thank them for getting you through trauma. Love yourself and start healing guys! Please react to Jam Baxter - 28 staples

Thank you for sharing. Not enough people share and is often the reason a lot of people feel safer struggling in the dark. The more we feel free to talk about it, the easier it is to find the right path to healing and understanding.

10:00 also an elder, as someone in a gang who's basic role is to recruit younger members. Those else would give him things to sell, or 'shot', and then he would shot more.
